Not sure. I have the switchblade but mines an '05. I don't see why it wouldn't work though. Pretty sure the auto dim mirror is extra. Mine is normal, amd I didn't even know that was an option! Sounds like the place you bought your car from has some work to do. Where did you buy it from? A dealer? Independent lot?

Independent lot that I won't ever recommend. They didn't even detail it or fill the gas tank for me. Good thing I like cleaning my cars myself

Yeah, what reaper1 said. You just bought it, so there's a warranty. Lets just hope that those d-bags didn't f*ck anything else up, especially under the hood. If they flooded it there's a good chance the cat will fail. Did they even know that it's a rotary? By the way, did you check up on the recalls?

I have an extended bumper to bumper too so if anything exoded I'm good.

I went on mymazda and it says nothing about recalls. May be missing it though. And I think I may be getting unusually bad mileage. I filled it up and 13 miles later it was down 1/8th of a tank. Is this normal?

I don't think so. On mine when I fill up, once the pump stops on its own thats when I stop and the gauge slightly reads over top mark. So from the top most mark to 3/4 tank mark I usually have 70-80 miles, once at the 1/2 mark I have about 150-160 and at the 1/4 tank mark I have about 240 or so. Usually squeeze out about 300 or a little under before I fill up and thats at a 1/8 tank and right before the fuel light comes on. This is a mix of city and highway, shifting at 5-6K and cruising between 3-4K no matter where I'm driving. And I redline it a few times too when I'm out. I noticed my mileage has gone up a little after I installed the yukon coils and new plugs. Anyways, everyone's 8 is different but yours doesn't seem right. It's possible your fuel trims have been reset, or your coils and plugs can be very worn. There's almost too much to list. As for the recalls, if you entered your vin it should show on the page 2004 Mazda RX-8 blah blah blah and then something along the lines of "no outstanding recalls" I would assume with your mileage that it has been done.

I'll have to take a look and give it a full tuneup. Cannever be too safe and I already love the car and want it to last.

Well I'd say at your mileage that you're overdue for plugs, coils, and wires, assuming they are original. I'd reset the e shaft position sensor for the hell of it and the fuel trims. Check every other little thing out and maybe a decarb wouldn't hurt. Search and you will find heaps and heaps of great info here. I'm sure you'll have her running in tip top shape in no time.

Oh another thing. Shouldn't I have an autodim mirror? Or was that an extra option?
And my passenger visor is flacid.
Well auto dim sucks anyway in my opinion. Visor broken in two? Easy to replace from salvage part.

The visors are notorious for breaking. Check the DIY that shows how to fix it back stronger.

I have not seen how good RX8's auto dim is but I had it in a Celica and it was too slow. If a big truck come up on your rear fast and your eye's are not adjusted you can get a little brief moment of flash blindness.

I just bought my RX-8 2009 Sport with 4,504 miles on it in sparkling black. I love that thing to death. I jumped from a car that I needed to get back and forth to work to what I wanted. Saw my baby when I came in to work one day and had been looking around for one and had to have it. Snatched it up before my used car manager even had a chance to get it inspected.

Ok I was driving today and I noticed when pushing the tach to 9000, i notice the gas gauge VISIBLY declines. What am I doing wrong? I know it can't be that bad! And what's that sensor that needs resetting?

I love the car but I'm gonna go broke on gas if it stays like this!

Ok I'm not sure if this is gonna work but it's free and worth a shot. First disconnect you battery ad leave it for a few hours. This will clear your fuel trims, etc. Once you hook it back up turn the key to the on position and stomp your brake pedal as fast you can until you see the oil pressure gauge sweep past the center and then back. This will reset the eccentric shaft position sensor. Oh and becuase you disconnected your battery for a long period of time, the DSC light will be on. Turn your steering wheel from lock to lock to clear that. Search clearing memory and you will find a thread with some good details on all this.

Disconnecting the batttery clears the KAM--Keep Alive Memory. Power is constantly needed for the PCM to remember such things as radio presets, trip odo and fuel trims to name a few.

Stomping the brake pedal until the oil gauge sweeps resets the eccentric shaft position sensor (NVRAM). This is usually done after an engine change or pulley change. Sensor tells PCM position of e-shaft for timing/ignition. Won't hurt anything to do this.

Anyways, if your gas mileage is that terrible, it may be time for a full tune up (you did buy it at an independent lot and they probably didn't do jack sh*t). Check air filter, check tire pressures, check cat. converter, clean MAF sensor, change spark plugs + wires + coils, and an oil change. If this doesn't improve anything, then you probably have a low compression motor. I've never really checked any of the "poor gas mileage" threads since I haven't had that issue....yet. Try searching and see what you come across, but you'll probably get the same answers I just mentioned.

Ok last night I disconnected the battery. Came back and put it back this morning. Turned the key to on and stomped the hell out of the brake. I'm talking till my leg was top tired to keep doing it. But the oil gauge never moved. So I don't know if it worked.

But my tpms came on this morning. I would have never noticed! Love yhis car lol.

That's weird. I think its like 20 times real fast and the gauge sweeps. I see you did do the battery. So now it will take a few drive cycles for you fuel trims to adjust, but as I mentioned earlier you many need to do some of those other things too. I'm sorry you're having these troubles when you just bought it. As for the tpms light, check your tire pressures and once they are set the light will reset itself, unless a you have a broken sensor

Yeah the front left was at 26psi the rest were a bit low. Took care of it. I'll do a full tune up too just in case.

I don't mind much cause I already love the car. I realized at 5am that yourenot driving this car. You're really putting it on. Making it part of you. I felt more connected with the car and the road today than I ever have with another car. Almost like it knows what I'm thinking.

If you feel inclined I would call or stop by the place you bought it from and ask them what they all did service wise before they put it on the lot (and demand documentation if things were done!). Something tells me that they didn't do much, but I may be wrong. Regardless, you should take care of some of that ASAP. I would pull out the airbox and check the filter and intake tract for oil along with cleaning the throttle body. I did this when I bought mine at 20K and there was a decent amount of oil in the accordion tube which really dirtied up the TB. It's free to do so why not? If you are going to spend money and do the ignition components and you are going to be keeping the car for long time, I would suggest looking at the bhr coil setup. It will outlast any of the oem coils and is very reliable. I have a variation of it on my car and I'm very, very pleased with it. It's a little pricy, but it is damn well worth the price.
