new guy checking in
new guy checking in
I've been lurking for a long...long time but I thought I would stop in and say hi.
I'm still currently in the research phase of buying an 8 and plan on picking your brains thoroughly. I have read RIWWP's new/potential owners thread...a couple of times. It's a lot to digest.
I am a young guy (24) recent college grad. Still looking for a job that actually makes use of my diploma. I forwent owning a car in college to minimize the mountain of debt mostly thanks to my schools enormous out of state tuition. I don't need a car yet since current gopher work is within biking distance of my apartment but that would likely change.
All this leaves me with this dilemma.
I could get a used non-rx8 car (both the mx-5 and s2k have caught my eye) and since it would be cheaper/easier to maintain especially for my first car.
I could get a used rx8, since i've more or less fallen in love with it. My neighbor has one and I drool over it every time I pass it.
Both of these options would be with the expectation that i'll have them for 5+ years, waiting for the next rx car to come out. I'm assuming close to 4 years before that happens. Plus perhaps another year for mazda to work out the initial bugs.
OR I could just bite the bullet and buy a lightly used/new (probably '09+) rx-8.
The option I am leaning towards changes on a daily basis.
