You need to read the new owner's thread in my sig. Considering the mods you want, you will also want to read the newbie's modding guide.

This isn't like piston power cars, and it will cost you a ton to get a little bit of gain. Educate yourself first!

And no, we aren't going to spoon feed you. If you aren't willing to read each of those guides then you will face a very difficult time here.

And if you don't believe me, just read this thread to see how far that guy got: https://www.rx8club.com/lounge-4/need-mods-241974/

I'm 100% serious.

Go to your local airport and get a used jet engine. It's the same as a rotary engine, but louder.

Put the jet engine under your hood, and then deal with problems as they arise.

That should get you the hp you are looking for.

My .02 worth...Buy this car to enjoy the driving experience / handling, etc. Not to make "big power" out of it. This is not the car to do that with...Got rid of my 650WHP Cobra to try something different.

I have had all kinds...And this one will be used to enjoy as it sits. And of course tinker with the PM items that they seem to require somewhat frequently!

Good luck!

Typical weekend track costs are $250-$600 in entry fees and depending on what kind of grade consumables you go with, another $150-$1000 a weekend in tires, brake pads, gas, oil, brake fluid, etc...

This is what "track" means to us here, this is what kind of track the RX-8 was designed for:

If you mean a dragstrip, this is very very VERY much the wrong car for it. Please pick something more appropriate if that is the case.

Correct. This is entirely the wrong car for drag racing. Everything is set up for lateral grip, improved weight transfer, etc... And it's geared wrong for drag racing, low torque especially out of the hole, etc...

Lots of better options out there. Best of luck finding a car that fits what you are looking for better.

That was sound advice, but it might be more practical to just add a rotor to the car for that extra power. Just bolt it on right?

This is how you figure out your possible HP gain:

1.Take stock HP
2.Subtract HP loss from loud aftermarket intake
3.Subtract 5k from your bank account for greddy turbo or petit/petite supercharger and add HP gain.
4.Done
