New Guy

Hi all. I'm thinking about purchasing an RX-8. My concern is its mechanical reliability down the road. Any insight or maintenance suggestions? Thanks.

RX8's are reliable as any other piston engine'd car. The main rotary-related issue is flooding and that has never happened to me once in over 41,000 miles.

There is plenty of info on this forum about the RX8's reliabilitly.

My car flooded once, when my dim-witted husband moved my baby out of the driveway. That was also the first and LAST time he ever touched MY car.

you gotta admit, though, it's a very understandable mistake. I mean, if someone is unfamiliar with a rotary engine, who would ever think that moving a car 10 feet would case it to flood?

That's the one thing I hate about this car. I occassionally have to move my car in the winter, and it sucks having to let it warm up for 10 minutes to do so.

Yea when I got my windows tinted, the guy wanted to move my car up a bit more in his garage after he told me to park wherever. I even asked him if where I stopped was good enough and he said yes. Then a few mins later he turned it on and moved it up. I had to tell him to rev for 10 secs at 3K before shutting it down. He said he didn't know about that.
