new 8 wewt

long time lurker!

I have been creeping around here for quite some time researching the fine nuances of our cars and picked mine up today black 06 6speed 8 15k miles

GT package owned by a 30 year old lady that drove it back and forth to canada anyway i picked it up in Olathe KS picked it up for about ohh 21 all said and done tax and everything included i think it was around 19, they had a shinka there w/ 40k miles for more money then this one and they offered 6k off a new 8 they had on the lot but i didn't want to part with the extra money. I picked this one out of the back where they were waiting to get them ready to show did all the paper work and ran the numbers and found out it is a certified pre owned with 8 years /100k mile warranty which was a nice surprise. Tires were gone so i got brand new tires along w/ everything else they needed to do to certify it

I just wanted to say hi and to let you all know! and for all you kcers around see you on the road.

Congrats on the car!!

That extended warranty has got to give great peace of mind with all the news of part failures that are flying around here.

yah i'm not to worried though it makes you think twice about premix and mods and stuff due to voiding the warranty. The only thing interesting to me is the the feedback you can feel through the car, you can feel the vibration of the engine through the seats and shift **** and i'm just not quite used to that in very many cars as of yet. I am used to being able to feel the transmission and everything else just not as much as the 8 sends me. I can feel bumps through the shift **** and everything. the car seems great and everything i have only driven it for about half an hour so far lol. I am still getting aquanted to the car and it is the small things about the feedback from the engine / tranny that is new. Obviously it goes away when she revs. So time wise i have 30 minutes logged about ohh 15 miles or so and redlined her about 6 or 7 times traffic permitting

redlined her once or twice on the way to work today don't get too many chances because i don't live far away from work and it is like 32 degrees out

Sounds like a nice car, congrats and enjoy! Read "the little things" and the "stupid things you've heard people say about your RX-8" threads - funny stuff in there. Rev early, rev often, visit your redline frequently to ensure the grin stays firmly glued on your face, check your oil weekly, and keep it clean and shiny lest you dis all the rest of us by driving a dirty car. Less-see, anything else? Nope!

Oh, yeah, one more - "drive it like you stole it!"

thanks for all the help guys, this forum seems to have a more friendly front then other car forums i have belonged to. I traded in my contour svt for this car and i already like these forums better

i will be doing that at some point in time when i figgure out how to turn off tc is it linked to the dsc? or is that just the dynamic stability control and no traction?

Unless you're like me in TX and they're always 6 hours drive time away from you...stupid metropolitan areas!

just hold down the tc/dsc button for a few seconds. turns off tc. hold it down for 7, it turns off dsc as well.

but dont do it. seriously, if F1 racers are a 10 on a scale to 1 to 10. dsc/tc on this car probably raises your skill 2 points. tc is fine to take off though. dsc though...

anyway. its easy to redline. if the speed limit is 60mph, just drive there in 2nd gear. people might look at you strange, but its an easy to redline. just make sure to rev match before going into 2nd at 60mph. lol... goes for any gear, but 2nd especially.

redlines (im pretty sure)
1st - ~20mph
2nd - ~60mph
3rd - 86mph
4th - ~110mph
5th - 135mph
6th - 145+mph

cool cool just figgured i needed to get the oll tc off before i started trying to get it sliding anyway i have no problem redlining the car lol and i find myself doing that in 1st and 2nd almost unintentionally now

Indeed, I've got the same habit in 1st & 2nd. Now I've got to remind myself all the time to keep the revs down for engine break-in.

Btw, kersh4w, those numbers seem a bit low. First can do around around 40, Second closer to 70, past that I don't recall and haven't tried yet.

first up on mods is 1) clear side reflectors / turn signal thingies 2) strakes or intake

still deciding if i want to go full or just a diff filter + 1 screen removal because at this point i am satisfied w/ the power + it is winter
