Does anyone know, if i can get the new 2009 rx8 taillights or anything similar to those on to an 2004 rx8, cuz i really like the new taillights and i am starting to get tired of the old ones. so yeah, if i cant get the 09 maybe something similar or different from the stock ones. Please help.

Rear bumper would have to be modified, but even then it will look a little funny like the above pic. The other option would be to swap the taillights and the rear bumper from the 09, although you may need to swap exhausts also.

 

if you want something a little different without having to modify your rear end... try tinting / blacking out your tails.

 

Or upgrade all your lights to LEDs or something... going with the '09 tail lights is going to very expensive for a very poor fitment... in my opinion.

^try red tint, or dark tint. It would be cheaper to buy a used set of 04-08 tail lights and experiment on them rather than buy '09 lights.

 

the 09 lights remind me of a Tiburon and the 80's chrome seen.

 

having owned a 2003 Tibby as well as being an active member of NewTiburon.com still, i couldn't disagree more. Ranging from the 1st gens back in the 90's to the FL2 models out now... i dont see any similarity at all.

But hey, impressions are different for everyone i guess.

 

so best way economically way would be tinting them? I have also been looking for any aftermarket 04 tailights but no luck, is there any at all that i dont know of, and hopefully that i dont need to make alot of modification.

I dont get the big craze over the new 09 tails.

I think the entire rear end of the 09 looks like a tiburon. Its my least favorite part of the 09's, even more-so than the retarded plastic mustache in the front.

Plus the fitment in the pic above looks retarded and I doubt it was cheap.

Has anyone figured out how to safely open the tailights? I may buy a used set and experiment with the insides of those lights for fun ??
