New 06 Shinka Owner
Well, I actually bought it middle of July but I guess that's still considered new ... figured I may as well make my first post in this forum and to thank all for the very informative info and amusing comments I've been reading (yeah, I been lurking here for about two months).
Anyway, it's Galaxy Gray, 6 MT, appearance package, spoiler ... and it looks just like TheCube's 06 Shinka (in another new thread)
I REALLY like this car --- fun to drive in the twisties, revs like a demon (although I still haven't gotten use to driving with an engine with a 9000 RPM rev limit, that loves to be driven in upper rev range).
OK, more useless info (since I'm on a roll now):
* Had 19 miles in it when I bought it --- now has 5500 miles. It's my daily driver and commute about 220 miles round-trip to work. I live in the Mojave Desert in CA so my driving environment is a bit on the warm side (high 90's, low 100s for this week, previous two weeks in the mid-high 90s, approx. three weeks prior to those were all in the 100+ F). Wasn't too fond of the 5W-20 oil they recommend for all of NA so on my first oil change at 2500 miles I switched to 5W-30 Royal Purple, considering my environment. I may go 5W-40 for the summer months here though, just a thought.
* Driver's side sunvisor has already been replaced because the plastic had split down the seam along the arm. The passenger's side was beginning to split and the replacement driver's-side was doing likewise so I removed them and Crazy-glued them back together. I'll be keeping my eye them since I'm not to confident that they'll be holding together for very long in this heat.
* Already did the oil coolers and A/C condenser screens DIY as well as the fog light rewiring and the RP shifter replacement (VERY nice shifter). I just did the cup "warmer" insulation DIY this morning but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet --- I'll post my results in the appropriate DIY thread.
Did I mention that I REALLY like this car? Yeah, I read the Recall thread already (that was a task in itself) and found it ... amusing.
