Needs new engine, but mazda needs service record.

So, i my 8 needs a new engine, but Mazda wouldn't give me one under warranty unless i have service or oil change record.

I m a tech at BMW dealership, so i do all the work myself. I only have invoice for the oil filters i bought from mazda. In the two yrs i have the 8, i did 7 or 8 oil changes.

what can i do now? btw, i m in canada.

Good question....I'm going to be in your shoes, because the AutoZone receipts I've been keeping are mostly blank white pieces of paper now that I look at them.

call MNA and complain explain your situation and they should understand ... dont give up easy either push them against the wall and make sure the only way you back off is when you get your new engine ... you should be able to get it the dealer is just being lazy and trying to rip you off

Do you have receipts for the oil?

Do you have (or can you reproduce) the notebook in which you wrote down the dates and mileages at which you changed the oil?

Dude make a service record book that includes dates and mileage for your own services., Kinda like faking the AA attendence records for your probation officer. Do it!

I recently rebuilt an engine for a customer in a similar situation who mazda ultimately denied warranty to, because he did his own work and kept no service records.

Dude go to a garage and get the receipts for the oil changes you got? Remember that place you told me your went too? I'm sure the techs will understand and give you replacement receipts.

Useful Canadian resource:

http://camvap.ca/index.htm

I've heard of one case where the dealer suddenly decided to honour warranty just from being told that the owner was going to pursue this avenue.

I agree with 9K, usually when mazda says "NO" to an engine replacement their pretty adamant about sticking their ground, unless you go legal. So i would go to a garage pay them under the table if you have to and get some doctored oil change slips. Other wise you might have to pay for the engine yourself, and that my friend is not cheap.

Who said no to the engine swap, MNA or the dealer? Or did the dealer say that MNA told them no?

Dude, you work at BMW. Make up some service records. You have receipts right? Hand write about 7 oil changes and take the customer copy from the receipt. Fold them, wrinkle them, put a little oil on them, do whatever just make them look old. Then, you got yourself a new engine.

They cant unless you tell them, use your real name, or give away incriminating evidence.

thx for all the ideas.

I talked to my service manager at BMW, and he says it totally reasonable if i do my own oil changes since i m a tech myself.

So, i went into mazda with my work uniform, and talked directly to the mazda's service manager of that dealer. The way he talks to me, sounds like he can give me an engine. If it comes down to it, my service manager at BMW will help me out and start calling up to the westen head office, and then up to mazda canada head office. The last step would be contact CAMVAP like Marc_GS suggested.

fingers cross right now, hopefully it doesn't take too long........
