In need of a new engine

Well, after about a year with the nitrous kit on my car, it finally happened. After putting up with long cranks to get it going, and decreased performance, along with some misfiring, i decided to get a "compression" test done. on my way to the dealership, it lost ALOT of power, and wouldnt start.

Engine is toast.

Im going to pull it myself this winter, but i dont know what to do once i get it out. I am not paying $5600 CAD for a new engine. Im hoping to get it rebuilt, but im not optimistic that the block is usable yet. ill know better after its stripped.

Im wondering if anyone knows where to pick an engine up for less. or maybe just cirtain parts. An engine from a wreckers would probably be best, and im looking into that as well. Also, i live in Canada, which makes shipping quite a bit more.

Anyone have any ideas?

Why would you be paying for a new engine? Did you pass the 100k miles mark? *I don't know what that would be in KM...*

I'd hope he would take the kit off before taking it in for a test! That sucks.

For an economy rebuild, try Rotary Resurrection:

http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/

I assume you've checked with Mazmart (forum vendor) for a used engine?

Check with Mazmart first, see if they have any rebuild engines around.

Oh yes check RotaryResurrection as well, he comes on here a lot like Mazmart.

you're talking about CAD so I guess u're in Canada ... that might cost you some extra bucks.

i am guessing the nitrous kit would void the warranty but you def can get a reman motor cheaper than that i would think or hell just tear it down and rebuild it yourself just buy the parts you need

I have a slight amount of expirience rebuilding piston engines, but i have never even seen a rotary out of a car before. i dont think i would be able to do it myself. I think im going to give the engine to a shop that specializes in rotarys near where i live and see what they say. if its just seals, then no big deal. im hoping the damege isnt too bad. i wont buy an engine until i know what is fubar'd on my old one.

I was just wondering where a good place to start my search was, and about how much to pay. I see racing beat has a one off 3 rotor methanol race engine, hehehe. theres only 48,000 reasons why i wont be putting that in my car, lol
