Unhappy need help RIGHT NOW....

Ok, I was about to pick up a RX8 (0 miles, last 5 digits of vin 38xxx) that has the following: GT, App., rotary, spare tire, cargo net=all for 30,600 (no tax etc.)

Now, I went down to another dealer for the heck of it. AND they were offering me a RX8 with the same options as above BUT with a NAV system for 30,400!!!!! HOWEVER, this one has 200miles on it and a built date of august 2003 (vin ~09xxx)...........

so? what do you guys think???

thanks!!

well, this car has been sitting on the lot since at least aug/sept.! And the many issues with the early run production of the RX8 worries me.

Lol then go with your first choice. It's only $200 difference.

the nav is a 2000 dollar option and you can get it for $200 less. just make sure all the tsb's/recalls and flashes have been done and get it. still had a warrenty.

I asked the service department to run the latest software, M flash etc. and to verify that they did it.

It sounds a little fishy. There are a select few that have recieved less than perfect fuel economy with earliar built dates. There is a chance the one without the nav would have better fuel economy. Knowing that the NAV is a $2000 option and with only 200 miles AND still $200 lower than the other one seems a little too good to be true.

If you don't feel comfortable w/200 miles and really want NAV, then bring an independent mechanic to go over the car. Be sure to go over every cosmetic item and get in writing that any unusual wear/scratches/dirt will be cleaned to your satisfaction before you accept the car.

I would stay away from the earlier build car. There is a reason why it's being offered cheap - the dealerships are not selling it cheap because they like you.

The earlier models have a number of problems. While most have been fixed, if you get one that has poor mileage, you are not going to be happy.

Also, keep in mind a GT + Navi will run you 30k. The app, rotary, spare, and cargo net can all be added later. The navi can't.

very good point. that's worries me really: getting a "lemon." I think i should just get the newer one--i might get it even cheaper if i show them what the other dealer was offering me

thx again

thanks for all your thoughts guys--I am going to stick with the newer one. I really don't see the need for a NAV anyways(until i get lost or need to show it of to my girl )

cheers

August/September

I have a build date of August 2003. I purchased in October 2003. I have had the two recalls performed and also the M flash. I average 18 miles per gallon city/ac/9k/ect... and 22-23 hwy. I have had no problems with my vehicle. original miles=7, current miles =>12K.

With 200 miles, it's probably a demo, which probably means the car would not have been driven properly during the 600mi break in period which may affect engine life. I would say no. Which do you prefer? A car w/ nav that blows an apex seal @ 50k mi? or one w/o that runs to 200k? A lot of speculation, but I NEVER would buy a demo. Too much risk.
