So im replacing my starter and my top bolt is stripped on both the bolt head and the nut on the other end ive tried extractors and they havent done anything just made problems worse... so im wondering if i can cut the bolt will it slide out or is there threads in the transmission bell housing that the bolt goes through? Help would be extremely appreciated if anyone has replaced there starter recently and know weither or that bolt just slides in and out after the nut off would be greatly appreciated... its an 04 mt if that makes any difference

 

There are no threads in the bell housing.
If you can cut the nut off the bolt, it'll slide right out.
Hope the other bolt isn't as tough to break free because its threaded into the housing.
