Need HELP!!

Hello everyone! Im new to this site and really have no idea what im dong but here it goes anyways... Im looking to buy a 2004 RX8 that has 124,000 miles on it. Is that too many miles for one of these? It had the engine replaced at 60,000 miles. I just dont want something thats not going to last. Any comments or advise would be wonderful! Thanks a lot!

The 8 is a great lil car, I would suggest getting a compression test from a workshop or dealer that has the correct compression testing equipment . Check the service records to see which TSB's have been done, series 1's have a few minor problem's ie; clutch pedal bracket . Have a read through the post's in here , you will learn a great deal.

If you want something that's going to last, you really should not be looking at a seven year old car with over 100,000 miles.

At that mileage, it's going to need it's maintenance and such. Rx8's are good cars, but I would recommend getting one with lower mileage.. I just bought my 04 with 36k miles 2 months ago for $13k, just for reference. If you want one, I really recommend looking around for a much lower mileage one. Any higher mileage car will start having things fail..

Find another one with a lower mileage than that. That's too high and it's an 04 (were most issues occurred). Don't get me wrong about an 04, it is just too much of an hassle to buy that kind of vehicle with a very high mileage.

How much is it anyway? Just curious.

$8k isn't too bad, but still, for a little more you can get better.

Hell, it took me a year of actually going to dealerships, test driving, the works before I got the one I ended up getting. But good luck on finding one, and welcome to the forums by the way!

I just bought mines an 04 with 70k miles for 7.5k$ make sure you tell them everything wrong with the car, ie scratches, new break pads, tires etc. It was listed for 9k$ but by saying the right things got it down.

On the situation were having, it's like buying a house for cheap. There are great deals out there for you to bargain down the price.

That's good. If there's anything you're unsure of, just use the search button on the top, and you'll find it somewhere on the forums.

I know the problem with it. It's not mine, since I want a second cheaper 8 to pick up as a track car, haha. But honestly, it probably needs a new engine, that's the most common thing, but they're not all like that obviously, it just takes searching. Sometimes it really seems like none out there are the right one.
