Need to have a Rx8 for one or two years only

I am thinking of getting a Rx8 as a weekend car but I will probably use it for a couple of years max. What's the best way about going to obtain one? I need to consider reselling after that.

Any reason why you only want it for a couple years only?

Are you going to use this to just cruise?
Take it in the twisties?
Track?

I used to have a stick shift but had to sell it for an automatic because after awhile, my knees couldn't take it anymore. I now have a 06 G35 sedan but with an automatic, you can't really have fun. So I am looking to buy a stick for weekend driving and I really miss having to shift for myself. Will probably go to track a few times per year.

After two year, perhaps mazda will have a two seater Rx8 or something similar.

Please don't be offended but it seems like your car has a bit high milleage for a one year old car. I need to think about it. Thanks.

Well I am not looking for a cheap alternative. Actually I don't mind the Rx8 a little more expensive given it will be a two seater with better weight and weight distribution.

I think going for a used one with low milage is the way to go. That's what I did earlier in the year. I purchased an 04 with less that 5k Miles as a second car. It had the manual tranny and touring package which as a weekend car was more than good enough. I liked it so much that I was using it every day instead of my S60R which was collecting dust in my garage. It maynot be easy to find a good lease deal on a new one because of depreciation etc.

Bottom line, an RX8 with a manual is an amazingly fun car to drive, if not the fastest.

I know some people won't be happy with my suggestion but what about a used S2000? You can find them for 20k to 23k used. It sounds like this is exactly what you need. Hell if i were to get a weekend only car and I had to choose between an S2000 and an RX-8 I would choose the s2000. Now, If i were to get a car for everyday driving i would get the RX-8 for sure (4 seats, decent trunk space, nice ride).

They are both high reving engines so you can't go wrong unless if you hate the S2000 or love the rotary.

Lease a Sky Redline. 2 seats, good 0-60. 30 mpg highway. s2000 might be the way to go though because of retained value.

VW has the best resale and leases IMO.

I wouldn't buy an 8 unless you're keeping it. The resale is harsh with engine recall, low mpg if gas prices go back up also a hard sell.

Monetarily, your best bet is to buy private party and sell private party

I really like the S2000 but I am not sure I can live with the engine noise. As for look I think the Rx8 looks much better. Here is my take:

Engine: Rx8
Handling: stock advantage s2000 but with mod suspension equal.
power: s2000
look: rx8
fun: tie
traight line speed: s2000

If only the rx8 has only two seats with about 200 lbs less. I

I would take over someone else's lease. There are many with about 2 years left at:

It sounds too me like S2000 would be the better car for you. I don't think that you'll mind the 'engine noise' if its only your weekend car. Plus, youwon't loose much money when you resell an S2000.

I hear that they are a blast at the track too so that might be a good incentive. Not that the Rx-8 isn't. Just two different animals.

if every member of rx8club pitched in a small amount of cash, we could buy that car and drive it off a cliff.

The original date of service is 12/04. So that's 22K miles in 21 months - less than the national average...

I was looking at this option but it will probably end up costing more. For example, for a 2004 honda s2000:
27 month remain with 349 = 9400.00. Lease end buy option is: 16600.
Total cost = 26000. I think I could get one with less than 26000 and not have to deal with leasing issues.

Anyway, this just an example.
