hello all, I just have a couple of questions and I hope to get some answers.
Well, im asking for my friend, he has an 04 rx8 2 rotar...I believe automatic, tiptronic if that means any different, and i wanted to know if there is any mods, expensive or not to make it more torquey, he fell out of love quickly and is wanting to sell it because it doesnt pick up as well as he thought, I reasured him that there would be a forum that would help him and push him into the right direction but....he didnt so i figured id help, well try. Im sory if this isnt the right area to post questions like this, if not could i get pushed towards the right area...i own a gti, and everyone said to it reflashed and all of the bolt ons. so im in the vw forums and got a ton of help there for me, any help would be greatly appreciated, please dont flame me out, just need help. Thanks to all.

Read through the Major Horsepower Upgrades section.
You can spend a lot for bolt-ons and receive little gains (we're talking ~20HP).
The only way to gain a good amount of HP/TQ is forced induction.
Tell your friend to take the car to an auto-cross event and see what the car was really designed to do.

ha yea i told him that, or to take it to a track day and see who comes out on top, but its just a tq difference. fi, is a little out of the question...are there any reflash/ tunes that up the timing and fuel mapping?

Are there tunes... yes, but Mazda designed the RX8 so well that they didn't leave much room for improvement.
If you couple an intake (AEM or Racing Beat) with a mid-pipe, Cobb AccessPORT for tuning, and maybe BHR Ignition coils, you'll gain some... but don't expect to get thrown back against your seat.
Here you're already looking at roughly $1800.
Your friend needs to understand that the car was never designed to be a drag racer and he needs to quit thinking it is.
This car is wonderful on the track when you need to take turns at high speeds and can keep up with vehicles producing more HP.
If he has watched too much 'Fast and Furious' and can't really appreciate the car, then just let him sell it.
