Navigation and Bird's Eye View

From reading some of these posts, it seems that it is possible to set the navi system to bird's eye or 3-d view. If so, how do you do it?

I forget which button it is, but hit the top-right button when you've got a destination set, and it goes to a 3d view.

The problem is, the 3d view is crap. So I wouldn't even bother if I were you.

Haven't found it. I pressed that button, and got a large arrow showing me how many miles until my next turn.

You found it. It's nothing special.

Pressing POS while in map mode will cause the display to go into "guide" mode. Perhaps this is the 3-D view people are talking about? The best 3-D view navigation screen I have seen so far is the one that comes with the Infiniti G35. However, it's quite hard to read.
