Navi/Storage

I notice that for cars without the navigation system, there'll be no opening in top are of the center console. I think it'll be nice if that area becomes a storage space (just like Mazda 6), and it's still possible for ppl to put the LCD there later on. Why Mazda don't do that?

probably because of the added costs involved...if you want the Navi, they'd have to cut the hole and add the parts (which is the reason it's gonna cost $2000 compared with around $500 for an aftermarket Nav) whereas without the Nav, they don't do anything...plus less moving parts equals less things to break...that's what i figure

What I want to know is how the NAV DVD receiver affects rear storage. The receiver sits in the rear passenger center console. I'm curious to know if it takes up much space in there...JSG, East Moon, any words on this?

I don't know what one looks like without but I don't think it takes any space. It slots in under the pass through compartment - space you wouldn't normally have anyway. The DVD tray opens into the centre storage compartment.
