My View of the first 1000 miles

Hi Folks! This is my first post (although I've read many posts), so please bear with me as I ramble from topic to topic seemingly having no purpose for being here..............

My first car was an '84 RX-7 GSL-SE. It looked great and handled even better. Wasn't the fastest car, but I loved it. Then I moved to the V-8's. My last two cars being a '97 Trans Am and a '99 Ram Air Trans Am.

My RX-8 is noticeably slower stop light to stop light than the Trans Am (just as most cars would be). However, the RX-8 is so much more fun to drive. It handles like it's on rails and it turns heads everywhere I go. It is not slow by any means. Many people are in disbelieve that my car was only $30,000.

I urge anyone out there even thinking of buying an RX-8 to stop thinking about it and go do it. You will not be disappointed!

Agreed! I'm just shy of 1000 miles and will be going on a 1000 mile road trip in a couple weeks...LOL. Taking it up to the north GA mountains....can't wait!!!! Florida is sooooooo flat!

Looking forward to the twisties!

The RX-8 is a joy to drive. I traded in a BMW 328is on it....and I loved the BMW too (just way too exp. to maintain and the value was sinking faster than the Titanic!). I've still got a C5 Vette and a '01 Miata. Each of the 3 has very different characteristics. The Vette is a brute and is a blast to throw around. The Miata takes very precise driving to keep the speed up, but it's like riding a skateboard through traffic, carving up the lanes. The RX-8 is a beautiful blending of both worlds. Super smooth and significant power, yet handles like it's on rails and stops on a dime. You can't beat it for a head-turner either!

On the weekends, my biggest dilema is which one to drive...lol. The RX-8 replaced my daily driver, so it gets used quite a bit. The Vette goes to club mtgs, car shows, the drag strip, and various other places when the mood hits. The Miata gets picked for top-down fun and quick trips to the store (it's my honey's daily driver too).

I LOVE CARS! WOO HOO!

Drive 'em like you stole 'em!

Keep the shiny side up!

That was well written and puts the car in perspective of what people should expect out of an 8.
