Uhh, so wait, you just bought this car, on loan, made only one payment, and are looking to trade it? You do understand that it puts you in a very bad place considering now you will owe more than the car is worth (depreciation). Have fun trying to finance a larger loan over to a 40k car since you will now be "upside down" with your original loan.

Then again, sounds like you didn't really read up or do any research on the car before you purchased it. On top of that, sounds like you didn't do a thorough check, because that problem may have already been there since you only owned it for a month, assuming you dont let cats and mice live under your hood.

ok so spark plugs definatly need to be replaced. they showed them to me and one of them had greenish residue on the tip and the other has some black oil residue so it was starting to flood or something. i had them replace the wires only and the old plugs back in and i am bringing the car to my place and park it untill i get the new plugs and do it myself IF i can.
now question...what would the effects be if i have the old plugs put in in the condition they are?? is it bad or make anything worse if i drove it to and from work?
either way i know any car can get their cables chewed on and perhaps this was there before i got the car but i never really went deep into the engine to look for broken wires or something. thats the last thing you can think of. i got the car from mitsubishi and they did a 120 point inspection and safety on the car. so wtf is that

anyone in toronto have plugs lying around? i am intersted.

Fouled plugs themselves can cause misfire/crappy idle.

They really aren't that expensive, buy a new set.

If you're just going to flip it, throw some $5 FD spark plugs in there.

if have some mechanical experience, you can do this in an 1hr by yourself. there are tons of diy's here explaining how to do it

car would not go above 2000rpm and no more than 10-12km/hr. the car was rough and shaky. then it stalled on me if i came to a full stop and then turned the car back on and after some secons the check engine light would flash. lucky at this point i only drove for 100m or so and another 100m to a gas station so i got to the station and popped the hood open to see a small flame from the ignition wires (sparkplugs wires). i took the gas bars extinguisher and killed the flame.
i get it towed to mazda and they take the wires out to tell me the biggest bullshit with a quote of $670 CDN.. the BS part is that a rodent or something chewed the wire thus causing a spark and it caught the fire.
then guess what its not on warranty because of that reason. i have full warranty and they wont even fix it unless i am ready to pay.
i need help....
i have looked online to see the part i need its around $150...
oh i forgot to mention that its the wires and sparkplugs costing me $670.

i live in Toronto so maybe someone knows what i can do or at least get this in warranty as it is only a 2008.

HELP

Has the OP considered that damage caused by animals is typically covered under Comprehensive Insurance...(or whatever the Canadian variant is).

Sure, you can do the work cheap and stuff, but if you are struggling over the cost of the dealership repair, submit an insurance claim.

Having an outside source damage your car in some way is not a manufacture defect, so not covered under any warranty. However it is explicitly what is covered under auto insurance.

There have been a couple members to get new engines (actually new ones) paid for by their insurance companies after ingesting enough water to crack the block. Each time the thread starts out "think they will cover this under warranty?" without even consideration that there is another level of damage coverage which they already pay for that handles this type of stuff.

I called my insurance as i was getting towed and they said we wont cover that kind of fire. its only if something it the car and caught fire or a flame hit the car type thing.
i will call again and see but i am with the cheapest insurance from bellair

you do know you have some kind of deductible right? I dont think coils + wires + plugs will exceed your deductible.

also telling this guy to grab some cheap FD plugs is a bad move IMO. He clearly sounds like he's not accustomed to greasy hands. And putting the wrong plugs in the wrong location is a VERY quick way to physically destroy your motor's internals.

you have to know what you're doing if you do something like that

for the record...i dont have a problem getting dirty.
I have a 16" boat too and i do all the work on it. a few months ago i blew the engine coupler and had to lift that engine out and replace that part.
so changing spark plugs and coils is nothing for me with minimal instruction

i believe the deductible is $500..so yes cheaper than just buying all the parts and doing it myself.
only thing now i am thinking is that mazda knows i should replace plugs and IF i do it myself, then it wont be in the VIN registry. so if i blow my motor or the next person does, it will show no replacement of plugs. would that cause trouble in terms of warranty long term?

Then the short answer is: Buy some wires and plugs and replace them yourself. Cheap and easy.

never head of plugs would cause warranty issue, usually just oil.
you can enter your records online.

The 1st owner of my 8 flooded her once.He towed it to mazda dealer and they tell him that they replace all plugs.
I went to dealer to check for history and recalls done on her and nothing in history telling they deflooded the engine and changed all plugs.
All recalls were done and of course oil change history were there.

Maybe some dealer still keep there archive down the basement...lol...

I don't get it. Your car needs minor repairs that the dealership will do right now for a few hundred dollars, and your reaction is to throw away thousands of dollars to get into a different car because you just can't handle it?

Just fix it or get it fixed. It's not that big of a deal. It's not even a problem that has anything to do with the car, and the car will be just fine once it's fixed. Calm down before you make a decision you'll regret.

so you're going to spend 600 dollars because you're upset at your car and the dealership?
