OK I pre-ordered this car and when I got it - it was a dream, now its sort insomnia.

1) Mazda is being totally unresponsive and not sending my $500 card. And the service at the dealership is crappy not to mention the idiots at the service department that refuse to change my oil (even though I have free maintainence) until 7500 miles. Sick and tired of Mazda's bullshit with this car.

2) Gas Mileage sucks ***

3) Tire Pressure Monitor System keeps going off at random times.

4) Crappy 1/4 Times (15 Sec. Quarter Miles - Give me a break... RSX-S does that... ridiculous)

5) When shifting into fifth sometimes the gear sounds like its hitting something even though I am shifting properly

6) Someone recently rear ended me

7) Rotary Engine is NOT all its cracked up to be. The Renesis is a horrible platform for modifcation. Also the ECU is quite stubborn due to US Emissions, is NOT putting out power that its supposed to. Disappointing dyno results also.

8) Racing is extremely limited due to the factor of the B Pillar Design and Suicide Doors - structure rigidity

9) Best Motoring - I saw it get beat by G35C, S2000, 350Z, DC5-R, and another car, only car it beat was the Miata (whoop)

10) Now I am hearing people's engines are blowing up? Great!

Sorry about the rant, but so far the RX8 seems more of a disappointment then it was when it first came out. Do any other members feel this way?

1. yes irvine mazda is full of idiots, twits, and liars. but i have recieved bith my 500$ card and maintance card. if u want an oil change, dont have the card yet, u need to take the letter came with the 500$, oh wait nm. just go to another dealer, irvine mazde are full of dumb *****.

RX8 Structure is Not acceptable for JGTC or any professional race application. According to tuners in industry and Japan... Only way to improve this 'problem' would be to weld the rear suicide doors shut.

I do not go to Irvine Mazda - I go to Huntington beach Mazda - they too are a bunch of douche bags (pardon my French).

Also my damn EMPTY Fuel light keeps going off when I do not need fuel. It will go off and when I am in a panic to hurry and find a gas station in an unfamiliar area, it decides to go back up to NO light and a little below 1/4 tank (between 1/4 full and empty). This is NOT a good feeling, I was sweating and **** panicing to find gas all the time... I hate that. If I wanted crap gas mileage I will go borrow my neighbor's H2 Hummer. 430lb/tq @ 1800 RPM - hmmm if only the RX-8 made a fraction of that number at 9000 RPM when it uses a considerable amount of gas in comparison to a damn HUMMER...

As for acceptability for race applications, you probably should have checked that before you bought the car. It doesn't surprise me at all just with the cursory knowledge I have of SCCA rules.

The gas light is more interesting. I haven't had it do this when I was down near empty, but in the bottom half of the tank it has happened to me. I think that it has something to do with the fact that the tank is actually split in two by a structural element, and, apparently, Mazda uses the fuel pump outlet in the tank (its idea of a return since it uses a single, pump one way, rail to the FI system) to create a vortex that pushes fuel from one side of the tank to the pick up. Freaking weird.

cuz the RX8 is full of disappointments. It aint worth $33000. If you had all these problems I am sure you would be quite mad.

I think its great that you'll get this $500 plus free maintenance. I didn't even get a free oil change.

Why not go to another dealer for your service, that knows better?

The car has issues, but its either you trade it in or have them buy it off you (and yes you'll loose money) but if its stressing you out you might just have to. There a lot of little things that I can list that I wish would be fixed but I got this car now and I'll just try to enjoy it to its full potential. I knew that when I got a first year model that there will be some issues... I just try and relax and not think about the flaws. Maybe trade it in for a rx8 2005 when it comes out which might have some fixes

And especially because I got rear ended!

Ok... I see how it is... well I hate to break it to you but a lot of people think the RX8 is a damn joke. And I am starting to believe them, first I was in denial like you, then all these damn problems appeared and now I am starting to realize it ain't all its cracked up to be.

No denial here. I have great times on road courses, and the car handles like a dream out of the box!

Gas mileage, who cares, you drive hard, it's gonna suffer. So what if it's down if you are a baby on the streets. Gas is cheap anyway. At least it's $4-5/gal like in Britain.


Either way, great car for sure! And this is from someone with a prior... 320HP WRX, 210-240 hp fwd turbo gti's, etc etc, and a lot of work in the tuning/racing field. The car gets a great review from me for sure!

Now if I had some failures or local service issues, I'd deal with it and move on. Not continue to post all over the place about how "implied bad" the rx8 is.

If I got rear ended, I'd be hella pissed, too. But how does that make you hate a car?

Like I said, I'm sorry you don't like the car, maybe it doesn't fit what you are looking for in a car. Why not put it up for sale, and look for something else?

When you don't get an A, do you automatically blame your teachers? Boring class, bad lecturer, poorly written textbook. God knows you got your *** kicked at Woodbridge or University High School. Are all those hot women really interested in you but not your friends? I know YOU THINK you can last all night long but the reality is you putter out after 15 minutes and have no solid idea how to please a woman. Your friends' girlfriends don't want YOU instead. Part of your complaint seems to be a result of your buying the RX8 without having done adequate research. Who is to blame for that? It seems you like to drive the hell out of the car and street race "teenage" style. Maybe you should have gotten an Evo. That thing might fall apart on you too. Have you visited those other forums?

I'm sorry about your problems, but take some ownership. Wash the damn dishes and clean up your room like you're supposed to. Do your homework and just read the fricking textbook and get your A. Very, very simple, but so few get straight A's, right? Maybe it's time you sell the car. Since your parents are rich and bought the damn car for you, why don't you have them drop in a Nissan VQ engine into your RX8? Or better yet, drop the rotary engine into a Hummer. What's the big deal? It's only [your parents'] money. And they're loaded.

Look, just learn from the experience. You're young, this event isn't going to make or break you, and you're going to face a lot more of these kinds of things later on in life.

If the car is not "fitting the bill" in your eyes, do something about and move on. Your list of excuses is **** poor and you seem to let outside circumstances run and dictate your life, take control. Eh.. you know what, I just checked your age and now better understand your 2F2F attitude. Maybe in a couple of more years you'll get a better grip of adult life. Okay, one thing on your list (mpg) is not meeting the stated 18/24 mark. Everything else falls into either hysteria or lack of initiative or decision making on your part.

Honestly, I feel bad you had so many problems, but you really do sound like a whining baby about everything. You have some valid points, but saying things like you hate your car because you got rear-ended is stupid as all hell.

I know some things are disappointing. I love the car but have a couple things that bother me. #1 Gas mileage and #2 hesitation even after it's warmed up. Sometimes it feels like it's struggling to run smoothly...any ideas on this problem? I will monitor these things and see if things get better as time goes on. When the car is running perfectly...it's a dream!!! Ok to rant and get it out......it's frustrating I know....hang in there!
