My poor girl
Sorry for the pitty party. A ton of things are coming to a head at once and just a little down. I'm feeling better today and just going to attack one thing at a time. I might get a used set of lamps and then save to fix the small things. When the car is paid off I might just repaint her. At least I'm not wanting to sell her. I love drving this car!
I get questioned a lot on this by the wife, and my response to it is always the same. I like my bumper, wheels, ground effects, spoiler, and whatever other junk that can be clipped, scratched or broken off looking the way it does - She gets mad, oh well
My ex wife never drove mine once and my GF will never drive it either. She can't manage to not hit curbs in her 3S so she sure as hell isn't driving my baby anytime soon.
I got some good news. My wife has green lit some funadage to put aside each month to get the car fixed. I'm going to locate some used head lamps, get some side skirts and then get everything painted at the best price I can get (not Macco). I took it buy a couple of shops and it would be cheaper to cover the undercharge dent with a skirt then it would be to fill it and paint it. I'm hoping to get a conservative set, something like the Mazda Speed versions. I do not want my oem rims to look to small after the install. Know what I mean, Vern?
My ex-wife is the reason why I got the 8. The car was a post-divorce gift to myself
But my current girl is not getting behind the wheel anytime soon. Last week I 'tested' her by offering her to drive the car. She declined my offer saying: 'I know how much you care about this car. No chance in hell I'll ever drive it.'
Great response!!!

I just used the 3M restore kit yesterday and pretty happy with it. Just work on whatever you can at the time. You may think you don't have time, but if you catch yourself watching tv or on Facebook or rx8club, that time can be spent washing, buffing, restoring your 8. Mine pretty much hijack much of my life, but I think it's worth it so no regrets here. Many things don't even cost that much money. I got a meguires detail kit for $20 on sale at pep boys.
My 8 is in great mechanical shape but is starting to show its age. I also had some paint issues from a previous owner who must have had some **** work done at a maaco type place, so it started peeling and bubbling. Much like everyone else has mentioned, just do what you can, when you can.
They found more damage when the bumper was removed. They will be completely replacing it with a new one. They are going to pull the dent out of the lower rocker and paint the rear quarter along with pulling out all the dents on the car. I also am having them buff and re-clear the head lights. Man, my baby is going to look good when I get it back.
I got my car back and she looks good. Here are the pics.

P.S. I know there is condensation in the right tail light. They ordered a new gasket and it was installed yesterday. It is good now.

MIne still looks new, it's an 2004 but I hardly use it. It's stored in a garage and never taken out in the rain and stored winters. I only have 15000 miles on her, there is not even rust on the rotors, they look brand new.
When I picked up the car it was bit over cast and it rained for a few days straight. I was never really able to get the car out in the sunlight after it was fixed. Well the paint does not match. I called the body shop and it is going back! I have a feeling the paint will not look right till the whole car is completely painted.
I wish I had not gotton Velocity red now. Dang that Triple pearl color!

After two attempts the body shop was unable to get the paint to match. Velocity red is a metallic paint and it is just not right done in patches. The shop is going to repaint the whole car. Do I have them change the red to a normal color so it is easier to match in the future or just go ahead with the OEM factory Velocity Red?
