hmm... do you have nothing better to do than come here and bag on the car? we don't have problems facing the truth of our cars, but we do have problems with people that show no respect for any of us and just come here to talk ****. Get your act together and exit.

And let me continue this thread:

Don't worry about that. Just break in as best as you can and don't do it often. I know it's hard to resist.

i'm looking for a new 05 also with same options. did you pay $28k including tax? did you pay any dealer fees? one guy quoted me $29.3k before tax and plus a $700 dealer fee.

another question: are any of your options dealer installed vs factory? my quote has dealer installed cd changer and spoiler -- i wonder if this is typical of those options??

The $28 included everything, and all options on the car were installed at the factory.

I would like to also add my congrats... my special congrats because you got the EXACT same car I did, (all the options and everything)

I paid 28 and some change, of course when you add the tax and i got the ext. warranty (because i drive 800 miles a week for work) it came to 32 drive out.

Seeing your pics make me happy, as of this writing my 05 Black RX8 GT sits in the Freeman Mazda body shop in Irving TX. (I hit a raccoon doing 65 and caused 2K worth of damage) but I go and pick it back up tommorow.

My 8 is about 1.5 months old (though I havent had it for the past two weeks) I'm loving every minute that I drive the thing, and right now I'm getting about 270 miles from a tank, of course thats driving it ill the gas light comes on. and if im DESPERATE i could go another 30ish miles before I really die.

Maybe look into getting the latest flash. Hope you are likeing the wing and rotary accents, i splurged and at the last minute told them to add them, boy I'm glad I did!

Like others have said in the forum for cars like ours (our badass blacks) Clear Corners, and fender strakes are the 1st things im saving up for.

Congrats again dude! If you ever come to Texas or Arkansas we should pimp our identical cars around, heh

Congrats! Looks a lot like my new girl

As far as gas mileage goes, you may want to check the service bulletins about the gas tank recall. I was getting about 200 per tank before I got mine replaced. I still have less than 700 miles so I don't know if she qualifies as "broken in" or not.

Where do I find the service bulletins? And how to figure out if I have the most recent flash? Yesterday I hit the 100 mile mark at half a tank. Now the needle is at 1/4 tank and I've only gone an additional 37 miles! But oh well. I still love the car. LOVE IT!

I found the tank recall by registering at Mazda.com. I don't know why they recalled the tanks, but believe it or not, it has made a difference in terms of total mileage.

I don't know about where to get the flash updates though.

Congratulations twice over. Gr8 car & Gr8 deal! I just bought mine on December 3 (and I'm really hoping the incentives are different in NY) Only got $1K off sticker. Wish this thread was here last week BUT...

the only sleep I'm loosing over it is due to my desire to be out driving! Never had a car as fun to drive. Handling is like magic.

What part of Portland do you live in, Pigbait?
I dont own an RX-8, but I just bought an 06 Mazda3, and I like to know other mazda owners in the area.
I live in Gladstone, but work near Lloyd Center... there should be another Mazda meet someday when it gets nicer out!

Dude, the clear corners are $60, that was the first thing I did! You need to "save up"??? get that stuff asap! The colorless idea works particularly well in black or in silver like mine Not sure I'll self-install the fender strakes but the clear corners were a 20 min deal for someone who's never worked on a car before.

Well I said I'd post pictures of the tint job and I finally got around to doing it about 5 minutes ago. Not the best pictures, but you get the idea....

This is exactly what I want to do. But as of now, I cant afford the wheels. But my first mods will be the clear corners and the fender strakes. For the wheels, I've been wanting Axis Hiro's, not sure on size though. If I go with 18's I wont have to buy new tires....so that sounds pretty good right now.

I personally like the stock wheels. I wonder how they would look if they were painted black.

Oh yea, strakes is a must too

Cool. I'm thinking of going with about the same, but the front. Stupid CA laws.
