I got something similar, it's called finishing touch. I didn't think it was worth it at first, but it really did make the car's paint smooth and the interior shiny.

I've heard of that one before. It's probably something similar.

EDIT: My mom had that put on her seats and carpeting in one of the cars she owned (came with it already done) and it was really good at keeping stains and stuff off.

They're just another money making scheme devised by dealers to increase gross.
The above quote is from a former Mazda salesman.

well damn it....I didn't know that the 06's have even hit showrooms yet! Time for me to take a trip to my local dealer.

So how do you start the car? Is it just like the mazdaspeed 6? Either way, the smart card is pretty sick.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have that added to an 04? My 2004 would love it. unless of course it costs 300 bucks or more.

Congrats bunny! If anyone, you deserve one after working for it. Enjoy it!

It's got a **** for the ignition switch. It involves pulling it out and pushing it in to lock it off or for using and then turning like a regular key (not sure on the exact order of pushing and pulling without sitting there doing it). The transmitter just needs to be in the passenger compartment. You have to turn it to the "on" position to use most of the controls in the car instead of the usual accessory position.

The 06s arrived at showrooms the end of last week, so this is the second weekend they have been available. So far no other 06s have sold in the Portland area.

By the way, as someone who's been following your buying saga on the forum, were you able to get any "first time buyer" cash from Mazda?

Oh yeah, congrats on the car!

They didn't have any discounts AT ALL on new 2006 RX-8s since they just hit the dealership within about the last week. Darn!!! I still got around $3K off MSRP, though, since I used Costco and I got 5.74% interest rate on my financing through the credit union. (Also no financing discounts on them at this time from Mazda). Still made out pretty well.

They said discounts and "incentives" probably won't become available until the 2006s have been out for about two months and then they will most likely add the MAC cash.

It's always great to hear someone so ecstatic about their new car! Congrats Bunnygirl. The ignition **** doesn't sound very pretty. Can you take a picture of it sometime? If its like a start button (ala S2K), that'd be cool, but doesn't sound like it. I'm interested to see it in person. Have fun with the car!!!

I'll get some more pictures tomorrow morning. Hopefully it isn't pouring down rain on me. It poured like crazy Saturday and was supposed to rain Sunday morning until early afternoon but was nice and sunny when I got up. Such a happy day!!! It started raining on the way to pick up my car. I was not very happy about that. It stopped just before we got there and managed to not rain all the time I was out and hasn't started raining again since I got home. I'll be sure to watch the news to see what happens. If it rains then I will just have wet car pics!!! LOL

I adjusted the brightness on this one. The colors are a little faded now, but you can see most of the car now.

I have been fawning over this new key system for months now. I know it's dumb, but it's just so cool. Anywho, it sounds like there's somewhat of a safety feature there with the ignition. You have to push it in and then turn (or something like that) to get it to come on. Having a push button, while cool, isn't good if your sitting in your garage with the car turned off climbing into the backseat grabbing something (far-fetched, but just go with me) and then hit the button. There's just some bad things that can potentially happen if you have it in gear without the parking brake on.

Also, I'm sure you can very easily modify it to work with a push button if you really want to.

Right now it's kind of funny. My mom won't let me drive anywhere unless she can follow me in her car, preferrably in low traffic areas.

now that you have the car, you have to mod it of course. anything in particular you are thinking about doing? i personally recommend lowering as the first thing. just buy some adjustable shocks along with the springs.

Congrats bunny, enjoy your 8 and then take some extra pic's.

I remember when I got my 8 (December 2004, 2005 base 6spd)...it took me almost a month to realize I actually was the owner of the car I lusted after for so long.

8.1K later....I'm still all smiles!

I saw it. It just happened to be sitting under the overhang at the front of the dealership so it was in the shadows. Didn't get a look at it in the sunlight. Looked dark and kinda greenish in that light. Still missing the sunlight view of one. Didn't look bad but it didn't grab me much either.

When they brought my car out from back in the shop they parked it in front of that one. Mine wasn't under the overhang, though, so the sun was hitting mine. Couldn't get an accurate comparison of both colors together in the sunlight.

I have rotary accents and fender strakes on it, and that was as far as I had ever thought about having as "extras" so who knows at this point.

I'm crazy. I couldn't sleep after I went to bed last night so I went down and sat in my car for awhile enjoying it.
