My car was towed with a missing motor mount!

I was working on removing the turbo from my car in the underground parking of my condo and I guess I am not allowed to work on my car in my building so they towed it!

How much damage do you think they caused?

The drivers side mount was never touched. The passenger side mount and bracket was removed completely.

The passenger front wheel only had two lug nuts hand tight.

The only step left was to remove the downpipe, turbo and manifold. Everything else was done.

Yeah, no kidding!

I was told I am not allowed to do oil changes in the underground parking. This is a brand new building and there is no condo board so no rules are set in stone yet.

Yeah that is bad news man - thinking of the 4-6 inches of movement you have there; and how rough the tow truck was / was not... you can have turbo, WG actuator, piping, oil filler neck damage..... oh man the list goes on!

Now the crank pully will sit on the front crossmember when the engine gets low enough (don't ask); so if it just dropped straight and then rested - you might luck out.

Wait a minute - did you have just the mount off or the braket too?

If it was JUST the mount.... you lucked out big time.

I showed up to an empty garage/driveway when I lived with 3 roomies one day, only to find one of the roomies home. I asked him if his car was in for service and he said it was. We just talked about what had gone wrong for a while, finally he goes "wait, are you being serious?" Turns out the asshats with our HOA had his car towed from our driveway without even telling us it was being taken. We nearly called the police since we couldn't find any confirmation that it was actually towed.

In short: No, they apparently don't have to notify you.

Try and find out who called it in.
Then call in middle of night to have theirs towed. Make up some reason that sounds official.
Repeat this until you think they have incurred as much cost as the damage they caused your car. Use different towing companies each time.
