If you're like me, expect to be amazed there are so many detailing supplies at the auto store.

And you'll curse bad weather not just because you don't want to drive, but because you can't wash the 8!

Welcome to the obsession.

Wow, story of my life for the past month or so. I only have time to wash my car on Tuesday and Saturday and lately the weather has been working out that it's raining every Wednesday and Sunday. Car's parked outside, so it would just be useless to wash it, so it just sits there being dirty. It's getting to the point that I'm pretty sure I'm just going to bite the bullet and wash it next Saturday regardless of weather.

As for what to expect with this car...It's been discussed before, but I'll go ahead and reinforce - You'll be finding any excuse possible to drive the car more. Whenever my friends and I go out, I always offer to drive just so I can be behind the wheel.

You get to look forward to every ***-clown with a Civic, Eclipse, Mustang etc.. in your area thinking that you want to race simply because you are driving on the same road as them. You get to look forward to 350Z and STi owners (or followers) trying to convince you how much better their car is.

I have the same color. I've never been as enthusiastic with a car as I am with this one. It's so much fun to drive and own. Life is good. Other sporty cars are jealous of the rx8 and will try to prove themselves when they spot you. Be alert of cars zooming up to get a better look. The sight of this car makes other drivers act crazy. This car is real sexy and attracts all kinds of attention. Some unwanted.

OMG, I had my first experience with this 2 days ago. I was minding my own business, driving with the flow of traffic in the far left hand lane. No lane shifting and ample distance ahead and behind. A red neck driving a dump truck pulls up on my right and starts yelling obscenities at me. Called me a MF, $hit head, something about a ***** (don't think he was talking about my cat), gave me the #1 sign and god knows what else. I had to put up with this crap for about 5 miles at which point I took a left to get away from him. What an idiot! All because I had something he didn't have, I guess. Looked like the only job he could find after getting out of prison! I was afraid he was going to throw something at me.

He probably owns an old beat up mustang and hates you for reminding him of his misfortune of being a redneck.

Maybe you accidentially cut him off or something without realizing it (I know I do it from time to time )... doesn't seem like having a nice car would make someone that mad, and that's assuming a redneck has enough taste to realize what a nice car is when he sees one..

As for N KC, welcome to the party! Red 6-speed with the red/black leather is the way to go! Expect a long and torturous break in period, and then finding all sorts of creative excuses to drive around. I have yet to find an in-car gas mileage indicator(if there is please don't let me know ), so if you're like me and too lazy to calculate it yourself it wont be a problem. If you live where it snows the first place you should drive it is to the tire store for some snow tires. Like everyone else said be ready for sore cheecks from smiling all the time and getting looks everywhere

Enjoy!

a few words of advice if the other peeps above me didn't say this already, you don't have to redline all the time after your engine break-in period, but don't drive shifting at 3k rpms either. The car has a wide band and is made to be revved and shifted at like 5-7 or 8k rpms. Do this and you'll truly enjoy what the renesis can do.

Nope! I was very aware the whole time! When around dump trucks I always try to keep my distance. Gravel does terible things to your car.
