My 04 VR 6MT GT... yikes

After trading in my 8 to my local Honda dealer, they finally prepped the car and put it out on the lot...

the sticker price on the window: $28, 875 - YIKES!

*it has approx 19K
*it has OEM Mazdaspeed kit w/ wing
*18" staggered TSW Thruxtons
*Borla Cat-back
*and other little mods

I loved my 8, but man.. that price is I hope she finds a good home.... and not get jacked w/ the price.

on a side note i feel pretty good w/ my trade

Don't worry. Just enjoy your new car.

They just priced your trade high like that so they can have room to work on any deal that comes along. I used to sell (Class 8 trucks) so I have some experience here. The problem you run into as a dealer is on the trade-in. Everyone thinks their car is worth more than it is. Usually, if you offer the customer what his car is really worth, he gets pissed off. So typically the dealer has to tell the customer he's getting about $2k more than he really is. Then you make it up on the price of the car going out the door. It's all funny money anyway. The only thing that really counts is the difference between the trade and the new car.

That's why you should really try to avoid trading if you can. You never know what the deal truly is when you trade.

Well if you work a trade-in the right way, it often times significantly reduces your sales tax on the vehicle. Since you only pay the tax on the price of the vehicle AFTER the trade (in most areas).

I believe he got the Honda Ridgeline. Yeah, I believe these non Mazda dealers that get their hands on 8's really jack the price. I was at a Toyota dealer and their was an 8 just like mine with 25k miles and they had it listed for more than I paid new

Yep, got the Ridgeline... but, i'm really pleased w/ it. I've been able to take my bike out to track and make it to Cali on one tankful of REGULAR 87 octane...

on a side note, i got almost 25K for my trade + rebates/credits. They pretty much gave me an offer i couldn't refuse.
