Actually you are suppose to divide the mileage by the amount of gas you put in at your fuel stop, not the total size of your tank...unless you ran out of gas.....

These figures are really dissappointing. For comparison, here is a list of some other cars:
350Z: 20/26 (23)
G35 Coupe: 20/27 (23.5)
S2000: 20/26 (23)
EVO: 18/26 (22)
STI: 18/24 (21)
WRX: 20/27 (23.5)
FD: 17/25 (21)
Cobra: 16/22 (19)
BMW 330I: 21/30 (25.5)
RSX-S: 24/31 (27.5)
RX8: 18/24 (21)
Basically, no improvement vs. the FD. Maybe it will do better on emissions?

fuel economy on the RX8 is terrible. Hope buyers out there have don't do high mileages! In the UK, fuel is expensive, so economy and emissions become very very important. Reason why our RX8's are almost 20bhp less than yours.

So it's not *that* bad.. granted not that *good* either; but I'm not buying this car for gas mileage

absolutley, buy the car for the performance it offers and that incredible revving ability, which no doubt will suck fuel faster than Saddam can burn oil wells....
Just kidding! Fuel is little sacrifice for the free revving ability and enjoyment the rotory offers. I can't wait to get behing the wheel and floor the 'go' pedal

sheylen...i hear there is another decrease in fuel prices this month....our Prices in London are about 74p per litre.....that's almost R9 per litre ! BTW : a pint of high grade oil, almost a R100.00
Reason : fuel tax here is almost 75%!

I don't think so. If I recall, the mixed fuel economy was 14 for the cobra, 15 for the RX8 and 18 for the G35 coupe. I posted this awhile back below:

Mazda certainly didn't deliver on their "improved mileage" promise. What did they say? 20% to 40% at idle?
The only screw up so far. A bit disappointing too. city mileage isn't horrible, but 24 on the freeway is pretty crummy.

I remember some magazines saying they got up to 28mpg when they drove like human beings. When they drove like maniacs, they got as little as 22mpg. But that is to be expected, don't you think?
