Movers drove into me and then said I drove into them.....

Man, as if moving wasn't stressful enough, I was pulling out of my drive way just ready and loaded to move to the apt and the truck was going to follow me. So he backed up in the drive and then I could not move any more so I stopped, then I see the idiot getting closer and closer to me and then TOO close so I honk my horn and he wasn't paying attention and he drove into the back of me.

I get out and the truck is still in my rear bumper. He backs up and the bumper pops out. Now the paint is rippled due to the dent. There is no damage to the bumper but they scratched my spoiler too. So now the driver is stressing out and I call my insurance to report it in. Obviously I know he's going to pay for it but I just wanted to call it in. They go trhough the procedures and ask him what happened etc and the passenger of his truck too. Their boss comes out and then I talk to the branch manager and he says he's going to contact corporate, I got their insurance details etc. I was trying to make it easier for all of us and not go through corporate but when I said to the manager I don't know any of you guys why should I trust you he got kinda pissy.

I told him I wanted to use the body shop I use (its nevada state law I can choose) and then he's saying the estimate they provided is high so I need to get another. At this point I don't.

The next day I fax him over my estimate and call the manager. Hoping he's not going to be a dick, I was wrong ha he then turns round and says the driver now says I backed into him, I'm like you gotta be kidding me. Shady f**kers. At this point I start arguing and tell him his driver is a dumb idiot and Farmers have him recorded admitting liability.

Now I don't wanna deal with this guy again so I call their corporate office direct where I speak to this one girl, she asks me to get 3 estimates and to take pics, I take pics and of course she starts with the I don't know how a 12000 pound truck can do such little damage. I'm reply and say well it did and maybe if you didn't have a bunch of liars working for the company then we wouldn't have this problem.

Its still ongoing and only happened last week. I was so pissed but had so much other dtuff to deal with I have to roll with the punches. I learnt my lesson though next time I'm calling the police straight away. I just didn't wanna start acting like a dick and then they move my stuff and mess it up.

The name of the company is 'Starving Students'

I know its a weird name but we used them twice previously and had no problems, if I was you I would never use them and I would tell anyone who's moving to stay far away from them

same thing happened to me. Only with a escalade truck. Douche had it lifted and couldn't see me he was so high up. He parked like a moron and I backed straight out, and he backed out whiel turning.. only turned straight into my bumper as I was honking my horn watching it all happen. new headlight, bumper, hood, and fender... All of this, after I got it out of the shop 3 day eariler from some other jackass hitting me.

Car are fun.

If Farmers has them recorded admitting fault then let your insurance company deal with it. Tell your insurance that your going to get the car fixed. Your insurance should pay for it and then go after the other company to recoup their losses.
Sounds pretty cut and dried to me.

Mair, thats a raw ****** deal bro. ALWAYS call the police when it comes down to something like this. I know at the time you didnt want to poor salt on the wound but the fact is people just arent trustworthy anymore. Especially when the offenders are likely some $9/hr H.S dropouts who are scared shitless they are about to lose their job. They will say anything to get out of it. Obviously their boss is no better. Its a shame.

You dont even need to deal with them anymore, Your insurance will pay for the damage then go after them. They will play some "OH ITS HIM NOT ME" kind of stupid game but eventually. you will win.

Just like what happened to my father last year. a dumbass truck ramp into his driver side door. Father took a few pictures in his phone, they didn't know. then the truck driver starts playing dumb and told his insurance that it was my father's fault that "somehow" moved his car without looking thats why he cant stop in time.

Then I upload the pictures to our insurance (Geico), and guess what, they confessed and paid everything up. **** suckers.

NEVER... NEVER NEVER NEVER trust a company with the name student in it and if they admit they use college students run the **** away....

I worked for College Works Painting... similar to Student Works...

They taught me how to prep and paint.... and then... told me I had to do every job as fast as I can.... Well... I decided That i wanted to do quality work.. so they dock my pay... I say fine and start doing their shitty *** quick work... my pay returns to normal... but people are unhappy... I watched my boss paint a window with latex flat white primer.... The guy who was paying for it wanted some extra high gloss ****... but because the guy was older... my boss said they wont know the difference... I then went on to start sanding a deck... A good 14x 30 piece of deck
Well i get about 75% done and my boss tells me not to finish sanding and just to paint over the rest before the owners get home.... THe owners actually were graduates of my current school... Bradley University... So i told him... I quit... he asked why... I said no quality control... Never trust a college student.... Not even me...

you can try Photoshop-ing those dents out.
Shouldn't the movers have liability insurance? that should cover any accidents.

Good luck to Mair. You did the right thing civily and like Easy said, if they are recorded admitting fault you should be good. At least it's a bumper and not metal paint work.

Sorry to hear this man, I'm sure it's the LAST thing you needed right now. Listen to Easy, stick to your guns and let the insurance company do some work (for once)

that's shitty.

and yeah, i learned long ago. ALWAYS call the cops. ALWAYS.

damn ********.

i got sued when i got into an accident. because the other people tried to flip it around on me. and they could, because i didnt call the cops. if i had called the cops, they would have given that man a ticket for reckless driving and i would have been on my way. but nope, huuuuge legal hassle. in the end, i won. but my god was that a waste of time.

im sorry this happened anthony. bunch of ******** out there.

Talk to you repair shop, I bet they can supply two other quotes that are much higher then the one they provided. It's all a dumb game, so get out ASAP.

If the other party is liable like you're saying, won't they waive the deductible?

Exactly. Just went through the same BS with the wife's 3. Let your insurance company handle the headaches, all you need to do is go get your car fixed where you want to take it.

the insurance company does not waive the deductible. they give you back the deductible when they get the money from the guy whose fault it is.

A few months ago, I was heading back to SOhio after visiting family in the Chicago area. It had been a fun but tiring weekend and I was ready it to be home. So naturally, not 20 minutes into my drive, I'm at a red light, and I look in my rear view mirror and see a woman in a Jaguar approaching a bit too quickly for my liking. She was also talking on her cell phone (go effing figure), but I guess I was somewhat lucky because she caught herself at the last minute and just managed to nudge me.

So I motioned her to pull off on a side street, and we exchanged insurance information. I check my bumper and there were two extremely tiny little curved nicks in the black plastic where the screws from her front license plate had hit. I didn't feel like making a big deal of it, so I just let it slide. But looking back, remembering how much of a rotten bi$%@ she was, I wish I would have called in the police just so she would have had to deal with the pain. She is fortunate I was just ready to be on my way.

Of course, I also considered taking one of the stupid little yipper dogs she had riding on her passenger seat out and punting it out onto the golf course. But I like dogs, and they probably hate her too, so it wouldn't be fair to punish them.

That sucks. You need to lower your deductabe to $250. Check to see you you can get a police report after the fact or at least an incident report of what happened. Send a copy of that along with estimates to the company. They should have insurance to cover something like this. I would also get the names and phone numbers in corporate that actually handle this so you don't deal with receptionist, office managers, etc. You can deal directly with the individuals that handle the insurance claims. If you know anyone who is an attorney get them to just write a letter on thier letter head - you would be amazed at the results. You may also have to write a letter stating the you will stand outside any of thier local offices and tell everyone that they are not an honest company. Tell them you will quit you job and work full time in letting everyone know how you were treated. You will start at least 4 websites dedicated to this. Every penny they lose in business you will accept as you salary and let them know how ambitious you are. Don't be dishonest (raised or faulty estimates) it's not worth the potential consequences. You know like the guy who goes to rob a house trips up the steps and sues the owners. By the way good luck.

FYI = Subrogation is the right of the insurance company to recover from a third party the amount of damages it paid to you. For example, if another party is at fault in an accident that damages your car, and you have a collision claim, your company will ask the other party to reimburse the money it paid on your claim. The policy requires your cooperation with the company’s subrogation efforts. Also, you cannot do anything that jeopardizes the company’s right of recovery. For example, you cannot sign an agreement releasing the other party in exchange for payment of your deductible.

Is the Company Required to Help Me Recover My Deductible?

Yes and no. The insurance company must advise you as to whether or not they intend to pursue subrogation. If the company pursues subrogation, they are required to include your deductible as a part of the process. However, if the company does not pursue subrogation they are required to advise you of that fact so that you may pursue your deductible on your own. If their efforts are successful, in whole or in part, the company will reimburse you in accordance with the recovery. For example, if 100 percent of the paid claim is recovered, you will receive 100 percent of your deductible; if the recovery is 65 percent, you will receive 65 percent of your deductible. Any expenses or fees (e.g., legal fees, incurred by the company in its recovery efforts) will be apportioned between the company and you, if recovery is made. However, if you choose not to have the company include your deductible in its efforts, you can seek recovery directly from the other party on your own. But before you do, discuss the matter with your company to avoid jeopardizing its recovery.
