Military RX-8s
I don't know if this is a repost at all, but, out of curiousity, how many RX-8 owners on this site are in the military? I have seen a few RX-8s on base here in San Diego, but I was just wondering if any of them are on this site. :ylsuper:

What RX-8 do you have? Glad to see that there are a lot of military members here. As far as me, I am an E-5 in the Navy. I am an Information Systems Technician and been in the Navy for 5 1/2 years. I am stationed at the Naval Amphibious base in Coronado, CA. |
I probably should of mentioned my job since I brought it up. E-5 15-T (UH-60 crew chief / enlisted flt instructor). Currently, I work as a DOD federal technician for the National Guard (It means I still fix helicopters on a civilian pay scale) and I am a Technical inspector on drill weekends.
|
Yes, yes...keep 'em coming!!!!!
|
Maintenance Analyst, SSgt, U. S. Marine Corps, >10yrs active. Thinking of going green with my brother later this year though.

I got out long before the RX-8 was a twinkle in the Mazda engineers eyes, but...
Air Force, '81-87 EOD |
In the regional RX8 forum I answered up in the San Diego 8s thread.
I am E-4. I have been in the Navy 2 1/2 years, have been stationed in 5 states across the US, and currently in the middle of my 2nd deployment. The RX8 was my first vehicle. I put down $3000 and a $28,000 5.65% 72 month check and have been quite happy ever since on 2005 black/red 6spd. Although I have been hit twice so far in San Diego, and have numerous door dings and scratches from mysterious parking lot incidents. I will have to take care of those once I return to homeport. I anticipate spending another $1000 for a 4 camera video surveillance system w/ impact and intrusion sensors. People assume I can just keep paying the $200 deductible for each little door ding. Yeah right. |

Absolutely. You have to put up with the deployments so I would count that as military also. |
