Well it's been awhile since I posted here, so I thought I might update.

As of July 28, 2007 I have the following to report:

Mileage: 134,254
Tires: 4th set (OEM B/S, Fuzion ZR1, Nankang, Kuhmo)
Engine:
Oil Pan (recall)
Spark Plugs
Alternator belt (damaged on FL Turnpike)
Front Engine Gasket (repair oil leak)
Rebuilt Alternator
Replaced battery (due to bad alternator)
Brakes: Original Stock

Still getting 240-280 miles per tank using mostly 92 octane gas, driving daily commute of 40 miles each way during morning I-4 rush hour in Orlando.

No other major mechanical problems to report.

Still runs smooth and has pep when I want it, gets the marble sounding action when it gets extremely hot outside. Can't figure that out as others have also had the same problem.

Engine oil lasts longer tha it did from day 1, usually get to oil changes before having to add any. Check regularly and still at full or near full mark.

Still waiting for Mazda to call for autopsy of engine.

240-280 miles per tank, I presume.

A 40 mile commute would account for about 20K per year, but you seem to averaging 50K. Do you go home for lunch?

I used to commute 200 miles a day for about a year back when I first got it.

Lambert, have you had a compression check done since you passed 100K? I have 98,000 miles on mine and had one done last week. The results show me at the low end of ok. It remined me of this old thread about power loss over time. It could be just the fact that a 100,000 mile motor will not have the same power as a 20,000 mile one. I just thhought it would be interesting to find out compression numbers from other high milage 8's

results are in .psi
Rotor #1 93.125, 92.275, 92.085 @205 RPM
Rotor #2 92.075, 94.105, 95.120 @204 RPM

Thumbs up October 2004 purchase 2005 BB

Took delivery mid October 2004 = 2005 M/T

55,000KM

Several flashes.

Brake squeel replaced by dealer at 24,000km no problems since.

Very noticeable vibration from motor - felt through pedals & shifter. At times an actual sound of vibration. Intensified when A/C was turned on. Brought to dealer, along with notice of motor mount fix, printed from this site. Repaired by dealer at no cost, runs tight again no vibration.

Chalk another one up to this community ! ( above motor mount problem ) that saved me a lot of wasted time debating with dealer.

I'm at 46K miles, still on original brakes, but they are getting there.

Still have the original pads & rotors. Lasted pretty good up until last September when I moved to Florida, now the daily rush hour stop and go traffic might begin to take its toll sooner than later. But at first glance they look good still.

ur drivng was surely heavy highway, that explains the long life of the brakes....

on my third set of tries and they are at 2/32nds
second set of brakes (front AND rear)
third set of belts
25th oil change
15th tire rotation

58,000 miles as of today. I bought it exactly 1 year ago with 33,000 miles on it. 25,000 miles in one year..........gotta stop driving so much!!! I'm worried I'll be at 100k in no time.

I drive a bit under 25K a year, 46500 miles as of today, expect to hit 49K after two years of ownership. Will hit 100K quite soon.

No major issues so far. Passed recall test with flying colors at 25K. Will post list of minor issues and history overview when I hit 50K.

I had it in to check the compression when the notice went out in hopes of getting a new engine. It was around 115,000 miles and I was told it passed. I think I have the results someplace just don't know where. Still tickin and spinn'in.

Here is a very simple way that I got rid of my MIAC (Marbles In A Can) sound on those hot days. Now I can run reg-87 gas.

Don't do that if you live in a cold climate. It's needed to help the engine start in sub zero weather.
