Mazdaspeed shift knob

I've looked on the web and in the forum. Anyone know where to get one? Mazda appears to no longer sell them.

Well you could have tried Mazda:

http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/spee...ModelYear=2004

Or any of the major mazda part retailers:

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=5733

So while you may have 'tried' I think you could have tried just a wee bit harder. BTW - Love the shift knob. Works fantastic with the AFE SS.

Get this one:

http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/spee...ModelYear=2006

It's listed under the MX-5 on Mazda's site, but it's for 8 too (comes with shift pattern stickers for the MX-5, RX-8 and 3 actually).

Here's mine:

The best one is the urethane MT shifter. Clean and simple no fake carbon fibre needed.

I had to see one in person before taking the plunge because most MS stuff is faux CF. The shift knob is real CF and real aluminum. If you think the style is too much, that's cool, just wanted to point out that it is real for anyone else interested.

^+1 I have this same one - got it right when it came out a few years ago, and like it a lot - like was stated, real CF and doesn't get super hot or cold like the voodoo knobs are prone to. The urethane one can be hard to clean (so I've heard), but it is supposed to have a good feel.

Speyrod 11-06-2008 08:09 PM

I currently have $120.00 worth of Mazda shift knobs, not counting the stock knob that retails for, I believe, $125.00:SHOCKED: I have an Axial short shifter that is fine with the stock knob. However it is very loud with a MOMO F16 knob I tried and somewhat quieter with a Monster knob I'm using now. lemme think on this, and thanks for the help and ideas.:)

newguy 11-06-2008 08:23 PM

^those are cool and usually the first thing i change in a car but the stock knob is so damn hot with the rotary to match the seats, the bumper accents and hood i cant get myself to change it

Two silver cars?? I like silver. It doesn,t show the dirt and looks good when cleaned up.:)

I may cut my losses and go back to the stock knob. I priced th /cf knob on the link and it was $150.00 plus %15.00 tax. The urethane knob came to $115.00 with shipping.

Ive driven by cops 30+ mph over sitting in medians on highways in grey/silver camrys for business at a previous employer and never ever had one pull out on me so I thought Id apply this exp to my personal life as well :) And it doesnt show road salt and water stains much at all in winter comp to dark colors while bringing out every surface detail even at distance.

In which case I apologise, sir. I assumed it was carbon look.

$25 shipping from MazdaParts...come on man. You just trolling? You can't search...you can't add...you can't click...

That much money for a shift knob? For that kind of dough you could hire an assistant to shift for you.

Ken

That's what was quoted in the link you sent me. And, the $25.00 shipping was for ground.

DeViLbOi 11-07-2008 04:50 PM

$25 from Japan maybe...but not from Minnesota.

climacus 11-08-2008 06:39 PM

That huge Mazdaspeed shift knob with the CF weave is a bad fit for the RX-8 shift action in my opinion. I've driven it before in the Mazdaspeed Protege and it's too bulky IMO. You're better off with a Miata style shift knob, either the urethane version or just a bone stock Miata shift knob.
