How many were imported into the US? Colors? Options?

Curious as my uncle was able to get his hands on a 04' Velocity Red MS RX8.

 

MS are Mazda aftermarket add on parts. Do a search.

 

I know that much ( I used to drive a 02 MX5).

How many did Mazda import to the US? My uncle had a Autoweek magazine that featured the very same VELOCITY RED / GOLD MS 5spoke wheels w/ chrome LIP - MS Equipped RX8.

 

its just extra equipment, it isn't "imported". you can add that stuff when you purchase the car. this is a tough question for a monday by the way.

I don't think you can add TURBO to that list.

 

0 Mazdaspeed RX-8's were imported to the US. I recall they built 300 in Japan. Any Mazdaspeed RX-8 in the US is aftermarket.

 

there is no mazdaspeed rx8. there are rx8 that has mazdaspeed parts on it but there is no official mazda speed rx8

 

Ok.. So what my uncle has is a "ADD-ON" MS RX8?

MazdaSpeed is a brand name. The gold wheels can be purchased at the dealership, just go to the Parts dept.

All RX-8's are made in Japan, and imported here.

Yes, Velocity Red is an available color on the 8, nothing special about it.

 

Nope, your uncle has a run of the mill RX-8 with Mazdaspeed accessories.

 

I'll consider it an MS 8 when there is some type of supercharger or turbocharger added. Until then Mazda can try to candy coat it with shocks, struts, brakes, exhaust all they want, but they are not fooling us!

i was being sarcastic. As noted above and many times, your Uncle has a normal rx8 with some mazdaspeed parts on it.

 

Hope he didn't pay thousands of extra dollars for just another rx8!
