I have a 2004 RX-8 GT and just love everything about it. I have had it on the road for two weeks now. I just got stopped by the cops the other day and was told I have 14 days to change my exhaust as it is to loud. I took it to a shop and everything is in great condition. It has a mazdaspeed exhaust. Can anyone tell me where to go so I can get information to show the cops that this exhaust system is legal? I would just like to tell the cop to get lost but I live in a small town and am sure that will get me no where. Thanks in advance.

 

If it's a true Mazdaspeed exhaust and not a replica you MAY be able to get some form of documentation from a dealer or straight from Mazda.

You can also take it to get it measured and see how it stands up to what the legal decible level in your state is.

Or....you may have to change it depending on your local law enforcement. But I would first see what the legal level is, have the exhaust measured and contact mazda.

 

just go to court and tel the judge its part of the car and show pics to him, you may have a chance

So do they not sell those POC Harley Davidson's in your town? They need to be removed from the road!

 

Tell them it's from Mazda and it's Mazda certified item that is legal to put on your car. Get some documents or some kind of proof from a Mazda dealership and tell them your situation of what happened.

 

Yes Rikio it is the dual canister, and yes when I talked to the mazda dealer they told me that the sytem was legal. Now I have to get a letter from the factory.
