I think I saw more CX7 commercials before they were even on the road than RX8 commercials throughout their entire production thus far...
Can anyone say Mazdas 'Bastard Child'?

Ditto. I can see more CX-7 commercials on one channel in one day than RX-8 commercials in one year on all other channels combined.

Amen to that... target marketing is good... no need in wasting money marketing RX-8s to people who want Camrys, SUVs or HUMMERs.

A large percentage of rotaries owners come from people who are already in the know of the car. While I don't own a RX-8 I can relate that this isnt exactly the type of car that you will be able to sell to every man, woman or high school graduate. It takes someone special to own one.

the RX-8 is a much more low volume car than the CX-7 is intended to be

I saw a bunch of commercials when they first came out with it, but not so much anymore, just when there's a generic mazda commercial that features all the cars

Cool. I actualy got the picture from Worth1000.com. It was the only advertising (sort of) that I have seen for this car.

Simple. Mazda is putting its limited ad budget on new models and where profit and potential profit is greatest. Unfortunately, looking at RX8 sales figures, it's not this model.

When people come over and ask about it - when they rev engines friendly like as they stop beside you at a light - when they offer to let you driver their Lincoln, Corvette, DeLorean just to try yours - you know that this is a class act! I think the ordinary Zoom Zoom must just be a little embarassing!

Maybe if they threw a few more "o's" in zoom it would be fitting... I mean c'mon, 9k redline, it should be more like "Zooooooooooooooooom, Zooooooooooom!"

That would cost more. Mazda isnt making much on this car, so they have to cut corners.

The latest Mazda commercial has all the cars in it, but the highest profile car is the RX8. This was shown last Sunday during the CHAMP Car race. Check again during the ALMS race. It's sponsored by Mazda.
Also, during the commercial, there were 2 mystery cars. One was partly uncovered (upcoming Mazdaspeed 8?) and one fully covered (2 door coupe?).

They are going to advertise cars that are going to make them money. This car isn't a big money maker its a flagship. Flagships do not typically make money sometimes they even lose money. The smalller cars like the 6, 3, and cx7 are making the money so that is the reason they want to people to know what they are.
