Mazda shmazda
So I have a couple problems, I recently got a compression test done which defiantly came up A's a fail (I talked about this in a different forum) once I got my results ricart Mazda in columbus ohio didn't not tell me if it passed or failed I had to figure it out myself.. Now after finding out it failed I told ricart and the refused to help saying the scores I got were not low enough.. At the time I was getting a new cat installed under warranty.. So Mazda said they want to see if the cat fix's any problems I might have (such as lack of power) I dont think the cat has anything to do with a compression test.. So I called Mazda and they, after several days told me that I cannot do anything they are sticking with the dealerships decision and want me to go get a deflooding/decarb done and get the compression test retested.. I'm not sure what to do now.. I have a failed comp test that neither mazda or ricart will fix.. I don't wanna get a decarb test or even pay for it.. Ricart says that I do not have a good enough exceuse to get a new engine.. That the comp. Test isn't low enough..
Another problem I'm experiencing is a noticeable heatwave coming from the hood of my car after warm up during stops at traffic lights.. I have no idea what is causing this and it doesn't seem normal to me
Now what should I do about the engine? And what is causing the heatwave?
Thanks you,
Kidus

well heres your option... mazda is huge you are not, so they win, second if you failed your compression test, chances are it will fail again, so just get it done again and get yourself a new engine, I know here ( canada ) mazda even covers the compression test if its a fail and a new engine is required. best to spend a few bucks then over a thousand to get the engine replaced yourself. So pride a side do what they say, since you know you will fail it again... and if you don;t well your problem will be fixed and all is good again

I know it will fail again but my problem is that ricart will say that I don't have any symptoms or excesses to get a new engine.. I guess a failed comp. Test isn't enough..

Take it to another dealer????......however, I'm sure Mazda already has your VIN.
You can do the decarb yourself and also the deflood and save a ton of money.
There are DIY's on this site! And vendors as well for parts if needed.

I have.. actually the way I found out it failed is by calling another dealer and telling them my numbers, Iv also done the decarb but Mazda wants to do this themselves they said it's a "procedure".. Would a score of 6.9being the higest 6.3 the lowest change significantly after a decarb?

I would still try another dealer, they may want the work and convince mazda.. my 04 mazda 6 had rust on the roof, ( warranty covered ) the dealership where I worked sent in the info mazda said no its not covered, so I went somewhere else, they did the work then submitted the info and it actually got approved, so they took a risk and it actually paid off.. I would try any and see what happened, or drive to a state that has a different warranty department for the area..

If i were you, i'll go to the interview first and do this after. You don't want to be late in your job interview, right.
Anyway, you really have nothing to lose now, just find another Mazda dealership and try to convince them about the problem. You might get lucky, who knows.

The heat wave is normal. I thought the same thing but it's normal. Decarb could possibly help your compression but most likely not. I would do as they say cause otherwise they will just keep telling you to get it done. Then when your compression is still **** then you have a leg to stand on.
