A Mazda Question.

Hey Gang, I'm looking for a M3, and remember that it was produced in a color that some say is purple. But there is no purple. Oh it looks purple alright, but there is no "purple mica," or anything like that. I'm wondering if this former color is called "Strato Blue." Anybody know anything about Strato Blue, or whatever the purple color was? Did they ever make the 8 in Strato Blue? If not, why not?

I don't think BMW would let Mazda produce a M3 model.

They currently produce a Mazda3 and previously produced a MX3 that was sold in a very purple metalic color in about 1992 or 1993.

the m3 color you're talking about was on the e36 model m3's and yah- it was some kind of metallic purple-ish color. i think the closest purple that mazda ever made to that is the black cherry mica on the 2005 shinka's. but, even then, black cherry mica was much darker- ie it looked black at night, and very dark purple by day. the e36 m3 purple was very purple though- day & night.

The color your talking about on the Mazda 3 is Stormy Blue Mica, and the same bue/purple color on the RX-8 is Stormy Blue Mica. The MazdaSpeed 3 only comes in Black, Grey, Red, and White.

Well, Stormy it is, I guess. It sure looks more purplish on the 3 than it does on the 8. Thanks for the info guys.
