Mazda and engine replacements
Mazda and engine replacements
I have a very random but specific question. I have a 2005 RX8 Grand Touring all back with navi. This car was purchased in Las Vegas in 2005 and Mazda had an engine recall in 2006 which my car was a part of, something to do with the heating issue. Well fast forwarding to now 2012… I’ve now moved to San Francisco (in 2011) and since 2006 till 2010 I’ve had no issues with the car. Now since I’ve lived in San Francisco the car has had all kinds of issues. Long story short Mazda found a crack in the engine block which was leaking coolant in to the engine. SO when the car did a “cold” start the car would shake and spit out a ton of white smoke (burning of the leaking coolant). The car then ran just fine when warm but not when it was cold. After going back and forth with Mazda and this issue they FINALLY listened to me and did a compression test and found that small crack. Now Mazda is going to replace this engine AGAIN… my question is…. Does anyone know what the standard policy is for Mazda to replace engines? Is it standard policy to replace engines with refurbished engines? Or does Mazda have a replacement agreement that stats that if an engine is recalled or replaced via a factory warranty that they must replace with a newer version of that motor? Reason why I’m asking is I hope I don’t get a new engine with the same issues.
Thanks
Thanks
Every auto manufacture have an option to replace your part with a remanufacture part if its available. Dont make this sound like a bad thing or only mazda does that.
There is no newer version of the engine, u will get the same type of engine. Probably mpore updated parts and thats it.
Cracked engine? It does exist but its super rare. More like the coolant seal broke.
Have some common sense people. Jesus

Doesn't work that way, they put in a motor made for that model year.
There is no 'same issue' that your car had, its computer was flashed with a 'cooler running' program in Vegas, but the damage was already done, so you get a replacement motor.
The fresh engine won't have the same overheating risk.
