Add me to the replacement motor club. They are also replacing the cat under warranty.

Add me as well, my 04 had 87k on the original motor. I started having issues with it taking a long time to start after running for 30 minutes. Before I went to my Mazda dealer I went thru all the steps, replaced plugs, coils and plug wires. Also did the engine zoom cleaner as well.

All of my services have been done by the dealership since new.

Last week I got a replacement engine on my 2004 RX-8 with 51,000 mi., purchased November 2003. It's my third engine. My first engine was replaced at 25,000 mi. about 2007.

I read somewhere that the original 2004 engine was programmed with inadequate oil injection which causes the seals to fail. I also read Mazda had problems with the outsourced replacement reman engine (my engine #2) which somehow caused failure at 51,000 mi. My third engine is smooth as an electric motor...love it.

Mazda paid for everything including car rental, so it's cost me nothing with minimal inconvenience, and they treated me fairly, so they've kept me as a customer for their next RX car. As long as they are willing to pay for their mistakes I'm willing to risk owning a rotary for it's incomparable smoothness.
