I don't think anyone is implying that the 8 is an exclusive car. It sounds like the "kid" is looking for a car with more torque, ie fast of the line with the power pushing you back in the seat. If that's the case, the 8 is not the right car. Get something else. I personally like the Scion Tc. It's cheap and looks good. It can also be bought with a factory supercharger. Wrecking a $25k+ car is a lot of money to waste. At a young age, your chance of having an accident is very good.

 

Let's not bash our 8's to much. To say the 8 is not fast is an untruth. Granted there are faster cars off the line, but I have NEVER been disappointed with the power this thing has and the rush that I feel when I drive it. And on another note, most people still consider ~150 MPH pretty fast. As I have seen others say, Just go test drive it and see if the power is acceptable. Everything is not always in the numbers. Oh and another thing, if the only pride and joy you get from a car is pulling up to a stop light and out running someone, I agree the 8 is not the car for you. Actually you are not the driver the RX-8 is looking for. You're not what it is looking for in a relationship :-))) I had to throw that in there.

 

If i do get a rx8 i will get it used for around 20 k or lower... its a nice looking car and im not worried about going fast just as long as it has some power to back up the looks.. im sure i will like it il just have to go test drive one.. mabe this weekend

 

I'm guessing you'll be waiting a year or two to buy it then? You aren't going to find a used one for less than 20k now unless its a base model used auto or is has some serious issues.
