When they reflash the computer, all driving history goes away and your "drive by wire" throttle will go back to the default settings. Try driving it aggressively for several days and see if that improves things. Don't forget that the computer learns your driving habits and adjusts the "drive by wire" throttle response to match them. If you baby the car, it will flatten the throttle response, and if you drive it like you stole it, it will steepen the throttle response.

Search for it, but there's a little procedure you can do that clears the computer memory without having to disconnect the battery - it's been 2 years since I did it but it's got something to do with key on, then press the brake pedal like 12 times within the first 10 seconds. That will cause the oil pressure gauge to sweep from bottom to top and back, which is your confirmation that the history was cleared. I think it's called an "eccentric shaft memory clear" or something like that.
Anyone, anyone?
Alternatively, you could just take it out this weekend and flog the crap out of it.
The key is key cycles - each "key cycle" (i.e. on and off) is registered as a session in the memory. The way it's been described to me is that the computer assess a "driving habits score" into the memory of the computer, which then remembers something like the last 10 key cycles - and averages those. You drive like grandma for 10 key cycles and it will take you 10 key cycles of driving like you stole it to erase it.
I'm not sure of the exact number of key cycles, but that's how it was explained to me by a Mazda factory rep.
