Lug nut question

I bought second hand Kosei 17" rims with Blizzacks mounted on them. I'm getting read to mount them for winter for the first time. Will the stock OEM lug nuts work with this rim?? I don't see why not but I can't seem to find any information on this. I would hate to buy another $30 set of lug nuts for nothing.

I would appreciate the help.

1. what is the original size rim you have. Some had 17's.
2. What is the offset? Stock is 50mm on 18's.

IF your new wheels are the exact same size and offset then your lugs should work. If not, you'll have to buy new ones. My aftermarket wheels at 18x8's but with a 45 offset. I had to have lugs to fit them.

correct me if im wrong...

info

My car came with 18" rims. The aftermarket Kosei's for winter are 17". Per the tag on the inside of the Kosei rims, it says: Size 1770 and off 42. I assume this is the offset and if you can educate me on what the offset means, that would be helpful.

It also says hole 5H The rims are Kosei K-1 TS

Go to TireRack.com Tech Center for a wealth of information including this article on offset:

bottom line,

I just need to know what lug nuts I need. What size is stock already with 8 and what do i need to buy with a 42 offset on 17" rims?

Yes, your information on offset was very good. I am appreciative and I meant no disrespect. I'm sorry if I didn't explain the means to my end. Basically, I have winter tires I want to mount. Will the OEM lug nuts work or not? If not, please direct me on what size lug nuts to buy.

I now know offset is a factor in this determination. Thank you. Can you answer my last questions? I would be greatly appreciative.

I answered my question. I needed to change my lug nuts due to length. OEM thread is M1.5-12 I just needed a longer lug nut. The set is conical or tapered. My 42 offset wasn't a factor.

Personally i would jack the car up take ONE wheel off and put one of you 17's on and see if it works if it does then keep going with the other wheels if it does NOT fit then but ur stock wheel back on and head to autozone and find the right ones and it would b a good idea to take one of ur 17's with you just to make sure

That's exactly what I did. I have the two rear on. (I needed new lugs) Tomorrow I'll do the front and I'll be good to go.
