Low oil= ruff running?

Has this happen to you guys? I owned this car for just over a month and i notice that whenever my cars starts running ruff, especially at idle, seems like the oil is a little low, not to the point of where the low oil light would come on, but at least above the 1/4 level mark. Once i top her off, seems like instantly my 8 purs like a kitten.

You guys or gals ever noticed this?

On a piston car, if youre low on oil (not low oil pressure) you can start hearing the engine "tick tick tick tick".

I'd say a similar situation will happen to any engine when its low on oil.
Owning an RX-8 especialy, you have to be diligent to check your oil whenever you change the gas, to be on the safe side. Unless you know the pattern of how your RX-8 uses oil over time.

And your consumption will be higher for a few thousand miles. Mine settled into a predictable pattern after about 5K.

I do notice the same phenomenon. I went to the point where the oil light came on (tsk tsk on me, haha). That's why i always keep the oil level full now.

Clear the adaptive memory your car has acquired if its sluggish.

oh yes, and do keep a close tab on oil consumption
Depending on your build date ,you may need to take it in for an upgrade if you qualify if its an early model....

i would add more oil in it...

if i could see where the hell the damn oil level is on the dip stick. Did the little white-out thing, and a week later, the white out mark was f*cking gone.

mazda sure is funny sometimes.

I check my oil once a week just before I leave from work, since it's been sitting a couple hours, i know all the oil has drained into the pan. I've never let the oil drop lower then the halfway mark on the dipstick, and have never really felt any difference in the engine when the oil level is lower.

edit: holy crap! OP in 2006!
