Looking into a RX8

I have a huge headache, so i am previously apologizing for sounding unintelligent. My name is Justin firstly, and i drive a 93 modified Altima. I have been saving money doing auto body for 4 years, and inherited some money aswell. I'm ready for a real car. RX8's are hot, and nothing beats turbocharged rotary. I was wondering all the information you could tell me about modifying RX8's, turbocharging, and any info you could tell me about an RX8 being that most of you probably own one. Any help will be appreciated! Just curious how these modify before i go out and get one.

Thanks,

Justin

P.S. i have past experience turbocharging Honda's.

Keep doing auto body work and refurbish RX8 panels they chunk. Build it from the ground up. It will be like "Corvete Summer"

Rx-8's are not " Mod Friendly " Chester. By that I mean Mazda did a very good job getting power out of this car, not leaving much for the aftermarket to supply. As for adding a Turbo that is an expensive and risky route but has been done by some here.

In my opinon, if you want to mess with a turbo you should just buy a turbo charged vehicle like an Evo, Sti or Srt-4. They will be easier to mod, cheaper, more aftermarket support and you'll get more pefromance out of your dollar compared to turboing a Rx-8.

From what I heard and seen on this forum RX8's are hard to mod and the cost is astronomical. Better to take FABRO's advice and get a Subaru WRX STi. They cost a lot more, but they're already turbo charged and easy to mod.

If you're cool with the HP the RX8 comes with, then you should be totally happy. It handles better than any sports car I've ever driven.

My best advice is to go out and test drive one.

thats interesting, my 8 was more than an STi...

anyway, it is indeed easier to modify sti's, evo's & the like, but if you have to money, patience & skills, it could be more satisfying to work with an 8. welcome to the club, & good luck.

i drove one, aswell as a 350z which impressed me more with handeling, but the huge redline of the rx8 is still attractive.... still unsure. STi is a dream car of mine, and i dont want to stick money into one until i have lots more $ to upgrade with. A RX8 and 350z are pretty close in price used.

actually i picked up a fully loaded 05 MT rx8 for 25K plus ttt..... the 05 350's i was looking at the dealer's wouldn't budge below 29... if i could do it over again and was 25(when insurance goes down A TON) i would go for a 350Z but i still love my 8 completely. it's ur decision ultimately but make sure you can afford the car b4 you go out and buy it. good luck and happy car buying

the insurance should be the cheapest on the Rx8, it was for me compared to a Evo, RSX type-s and 350z.
