On-line Service Record
Do many of you use this? I got into an argument with my local Mazda service rep (first time Ive ever had a complaint with Maple Shade Mazda). I had my routine service done this morning (LOF-yes, Im a loser & still go to the dealer for this). Anyway, when I left they made suggestions: need new tires (which Im already taking care of), & brake wear, which I wasnt aware of. When I got home, I also noticed they said I need a new battery. I knew they had changed out my battery within the past year or so, so I was concerned.
I pulled up my service record on-line & it said "battery replacement 1/7/09." I know batteries last longer than 18 mos. I called service, got a recording, & they called back. The guy who called me back started arguing with me, "Where did you get that info?" On the Mazda web site, I said. Well, you must have gone somewhere else! (WTF? It was on THEIR website!) "No, except for tires, tints, & lights, all my work was done by you!" I said. "Well, it says in my records that you had your back lenses replaced for moisture on 1/7/09." (I did have that done, but that's not what their site says.) So, the end of this was I got the new battery in Nov, 08 & it is still under 100% warrenty & need to bring the 8 back. I'll sort thru all my service papers I have collected over the past 6 years & get this info straightened out. I was wondering if any of you guys had this mis-information on line for your car? When I left today, they said, "We hope you give us all 10s when Mazda calls you." Yeah, right.... |
my dealer doesnt even put stuff online.

well i know what i learned...
you can get your service records online.. haha |
In my case the Owners/MyMazda/Service History page only contains info recorded by me. I guess my dealer isn't as savvy as others.
I can call them up or of course in person get a printout of all service they've performed. So, it's not hard to see that they may have web-based online misrecorded info, or not at all. The in-dealership online system, which you can elicit from any dealership (or phone call to MNAO), should be much better however as the data is auto-recorded on service form entry when they give you the estimate and/or at checkout. |

I asked the service rep. who recorded the wrong info? He indicated Mazda did from info they provide.
On the Mazda USA web page, there's a pull down under "OWNERS" that leads to "My Mazda." I signed in there, & that was where I found what was supposedly "My Service Record." |
^ I too keep the receipts, but also record in the MyMazda area since I do a lot of maintenance myself.

I already explained this "dual system" above. The in-dealerhip system is the official one. The web-based is just a niceity.

My dealers "in-dealership system" doesn't show my first engine replacement, it just says battery replacement. I went back and forth with them last week when I was trying to get some dates of certain things clarified.

Wayne Mazda record everything I did at their dealership into the system. so I can look it up at Mazdausa.com. I like it. Im starting to think I should start doing service there, 25 bux for oil change doesn't sound too bad sometimes(on my lazy day)
I guess most dealerships are still loaded with morons ? |

My dealer is pretty good, and enters stuff in the on-line system. It's usually a reasonable approximation of what I had done and what the printed receipt says. Sometimes it takes a while for it to show up. I suspect that it's entered manually by the service advisor, between periods of real work. The in-dealer system is where they enter the actual stuff done, and is what prints out the receipts. Ken |
I just went back on my service list & they have me down as having 4(!) battery replacements including TODAY which is listed as August 19th (today is the 17th). I did not get my battery replaced today.
Maybe they get some kind of bonus from Mazda for doing battery replacements! :wink2: |
