Question to everyone: Does it seem that the higher the number the newer the car is? E.g. 110311, the second from the bottom is on his second tank. If they don't give out the numbers consecutively, then this "survey" makes not much sense.

 

after you state the fuel economy and your vin, multiply your fuel economy by 707, divide by the last 5 digits of your vin, raise to the power of (your age - 16), divide by the last 4 digits of your social security number, and then add the surface area of contact between your driving shoe and the gas pedal. This will tell us the relative keys to our existence.

 

social security numbers are not the same worldwide..

RENESIS is hand built so all cars wont be 100% same and wont work 100% same. That's my theory on why many Rx8's have different performance, gas milage, etc.

It might also be informative to know mpg controlling for age and/or sex of the driver? Or how long you've been driving a stick?

Lots of factors, like age, driving environment e.g. I drive a windy mountain highway to work.
Climate (temperature , wind) plays a role.

But:

interesting. Looks like there's a valley. The stats are maybe not precise 'cause some are new to stick or different habits, but if we collect a LOT of numbers, then I hope it'll make up for those problems.

 

102035 - typically 19.5 MPG

 

I changed the chart X axis. Previous versions were equally spaced between data points, not accounting for how close or far away the vin numbers are from one to the next. Looks different, I think it's more accurate this way.

my full digits are 101365. Averaged around 15 until the last few weeks then around 12-13. Got a new engine (picking up car tomorrow) so I'll let you know what the new numbers are.

 

good luck with the new engine, I'm sure it'll achieve the 20 mpg that almost everyone seems to get.

I have been getting around 6.6km/L or 15.15L/100km here in Toronto.

80% City, 20% Highway.

 

So my VIN# is 119173.

I haven't taken delivery yet (1 month 2 go)

Based on the chart, which seems to curve up as the VIN numbers increase, I wonder what my MPG w/b when I break her in.
