labor charge....is this B.S. or for real??

I got the base 6speed.

I went in the other day and was going to get the blue tint FOG lights.

The LABOR charge was going to be like 220!!!!!!!!!!
At first...the guy said around 50 or so bucks which I was cool with.....he called me back a few hours later to tell me of the "bumper thing". I almost **** my pants.

the dealer said they had to take the FREAKIN' BUMBER off to install the foglights.

Is this really true???
or is this a load of sheite?

The only reason I'm thinking its a load of sheite is that rosenthal mazda in Birmingham AL wesite sells them for like $100 off retail and I made my Atlanta Mazda dealer honor that price....

So with that, I'm thinking they may be jacking up the labor price to make up for the 100 reduction of the foglights retail savings....

(I'm kicking myself in the *** for not getting the sport upgrade at purchase)

Thanks
JEff

The labor does sound a little high, but yes- the front end has to come off to replace the fog lights. It's not a major procedure though- I would recommend ordering from Trussville or Rosenthall and do it yourself... there's instructions and pics on this thread:

Great link...Thanks so much!!!

I noticed you stated "replaceing the foglights"

I never had any to begin with.

Is there anything else I need other than the foglights listed on the rosenthal website??

Does it come with the switch to turn them on???
Does it come with directions on how to wire it???

Thx for your help!
Jeff

If it helps, I was quoted labor at 79 bucks an hour for any work done at my dealership. Sounds like they're expecting about 3 hours?

If the wiring harness does not exist in your car, removing the bumper sounds reasonable to install it.

Sweet......

Does anyone know if the "foglight" kit you buy on the trussville mazda site for 252.00 includes the power switch/install directions???

If it is a Mazda kit the info will be in the box.

Are you prepared to take the entire front of the car off yourself?

One paint chip will cost more to fix than the shop quoted you.

Please don't try to take it off with only one person present..
