Keyless entry
Sorry if this may sound dumb but im not sure if mine is working properly or its suppose to be like that? My panic button doesn't do anything and it only makes a sound if the lock button is pressed multiple times. From what im told, because its only a keyless entry and not an alarm system its not gonna make a sound when car is struck either. But while i was taking of my front bumper, the alarm went off.

It takes 1 "press" (of the lock button ) to arm the system and 2 "presses" to sound the horn when the system is armed . Sounds like you have the shock sensor installed but I don't know why the panic button doesn't work. If that's a big deal you may want to take it to your dealer for a through diagnosis.

Mine was acting out, so I changed the batteries on the two cards. Still had similar issues but it actually got better. I would that by changing the batteries just in case.
Then I found the culprit: my cell phone. I usually keep my cell phone in a different pocket. But it doesn't matter. My keyless access card seems to find a lot of interference with my cell phone regardless of where the cell phone is (I have an iPhone 4)
When I do not have my cell phone with me, or when the phone is completely turned off, I notice my card works simply fine.
However, at times I have to press the button twice for the lock/unlock and also for the trunk. I've heard others with similar issues.
I intend to take the cards back to Mazda to see if they can recalibrate them or get me new ones under warranty.

Ha, ha, ha, trying to be a good rx-8 citizen, LOL.
Somebody mentioned that to me, so I decided to give it a try by leaving the cell phone in my house one day. That's when I noticed the card working better/faster.
Then I went back to the house to get the phone just to double check. Sure enough, the card would not work properly. Perhaps it has something to do with the particular phone I have.
I also believe the owner's manual says something about interference from electronic devices affecting the signal strength of the card.
