Just test drove, plus a few questions.

I really liked the car. It has great handling plus a lot of pep. Also drove the mazda6 which also has good acceleration and is roomier, but its not a sports car :P.

Anyway I have a few questions. What does the Dynamic Stability Control do? Also, Does the Bose audio system sound better than the standard audio system?

The audio system upgrade in the RX-8 blows. The audiopilot doesn't work worth a flip. For instance, when the audiopilot is on and I turn it down manually, the sound system will turn it back up. So I turn it down again. Once again the audiopilot turns it back up. I use it without the audiopilot on now.
That is my only complaint with the Bose sound system...

Thanks. Its just that I want to get the car for as cheap as I can and since the sport package doesn't come with the bose audio I was wondering if I needed it :p.

Yea...I looked at a RX8 with just the sport package and if they had it in black I would of taken it. I could care less about the cheesey bose or a sunroof. Bose is hit or miss...some cars sound fantasic, and some...well crap...unfortunately in the 8 it is the latter. Go for the Sport!

The BOSE is pretty good. Best factory stereo I have heard in a car under $50K

The AudioPilot is rather useless.
So, turn it off.

Not enough bass? Well, compared to some rice-mobiles I have heard, perhaps, but the rear deck drivers make pretty good bass.

Of course, i am NOT 18, and maybe I have different bass preferences than some others, but I DO like to crank it up and listen to rock, and I think it is nice.

The 6 CD changer works OK.
It is slow. Takes a long time to change disks.
I prefer ones with cartridges over the slot loaders, but that is just because I know how ugly it can be when a slot loader jams.

In general i doub you could install a better system for the price they are asking, and if you did the install would be a lot of work.

Besides, if you did use a standard head, how on earth would you fit it in that funky console panel??

I say "Go for the Bose, unless you really NEED your car to go "Thumpa thumpa" at stop lights..

If you're looking to get the car on the cheap, skip the Bose. You can do much better with aftermarket and probably cheaper. I've got it, I'm not real demanding, and I'm kinda disappointed. Plus the audiopilot has no discernable affect (my opinion.) Others say it has an effect, but not good.
