just a question

how many of your rx-8 owners got the grand touring package and if so was it worth the money?

Oh hell yes. I got it and I have Nav too. The only thing that was a waste to me was the bose stereo system and only becuase mine was better from my previous car.

Definitely go with GT. The leather, heated & power seats are worth it along, not to mention the moonroof (unless you're pretty tall).

Personal preference really..

The big thing, for me, about the GT is the Leather.. The Bose is great if you're not a hardcore car audio guy. It fits the bill for most people.. Then there's the moonroof...

baaahh....GT package is all fluff. Provides no performance benefit. For me..no way. Base has all the luxury I need.

Got everything but the Nav, and love it. The seats are great, the moonroof is great- hell, the whole car is great. If you like extra luxury bits, go for the GT package.

I originally just wanted the Touring package but I got the GT and man the leather is nice and the power seat is definitely your friend! The lumbar support is also great! Other than the leather and the power seats there really wasn't any reason for me to pick it over the Touring.

but I am happy with my GT. if you think you can live without the leather and power seats(and other creature comforts) then go with the touring.

if you can live with the stock stereo and without a moonroof and without the homelink mirror(man I love it!) go with the Sport. But my advise is get at least the sport package as the xenon headlights and the Traction control and the wheels are worth it!

I went with the GT also..... worth every penny! I originally did not want leather, but wanted the other options in the GT package. Now, I wouldn't trade.

Got GT and it's definitely worth it.. besides it's only 4k+ more than base.. not much when you consider spending 24-25k on a car.

Didn't get the Nav because I'm going to change/add my own system later on anyways.

I got the Grand Touring package and the Nav.
If you like what the GT package offers, then it is definatly worth it.
It was to me.
Look at it this way, if your gonna spend around 28,000 to 30,000 for a new car, then you should just go ahead and get it the way that you want.

Just spec the car out the with all of the options you want and negotiate the price. Even if it is couple of bucks more per payment, I think you'll be happier in the long run.

Word... luxury is just a fancy name for weight. :D

I do like the HIDs that came with the sport package, tho.

GT all the way, not only is it very nice to have the leather, but your resale value will be higher. Not that any of us plan on selling our cars

I believe the HID's are a performance option. Great lighting is like good brakes...provides confidence.

uhh...$4000+ is a big spread. If you are happy with the GT good.

We'll see how out those elctro-gizmos, and fragile leather fare after 100,000 miles and 2+ owners....

That's just me.

I got the GT and I'd never look back. The $4,000 upcharge was, as has been noted, not that significant percentage increase in the car's overall cost. I love the leather, the heated seats, the electric power seats, the homelink remote, the self-dimming mirror, the xenons. I even like the Bose system. The moonroof could be bigger but then again the top of the car isn't THAT big.

I couldn't justify $2000 for an electric map but that's just me. I know they're cool but my thought was I use a map like once every 2 years. Given that I have no real need for one, it was $2000 that I was happy to pocket.

I'd say go for the GT!!

The important bits come with the Sport package.

Leather is nice but the downside to GT is you're forced into the moonroof. I guess it's ok if you're chort and never plan on driving any tall folks around 'cause it eats up an inch and a half of headroom.

Best combo imo is Sport package and aftermarket leather.

I did not want the electronic aid like traction control so i got the GS. I want to be the one driving, not the car deciding in place of my foot.
