Just bought 04 Rx-8 :)

Well I just bought a Black 04 Rx8... I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly which model is it... It has cloth seats, not leather... No remote controler for alarm, it has a body kit that usually comes on GT models, spoiler sunroof etc.

I have couple of questions about it though...

I'm a rotor head and i have an 94 FD (i'm on Rx7 club as Boostin FD) So i know all about rotaries etc. For some reason i didn't get a owners manual with the car so i'm wandering if there is one to dl somewhere etc. Another thing, for some reason when i press the button for the trunk release, nothing happens. Is this common problem or am i doing it wrong? Last question how long is the warranty on these puppies from mazda and should i have them check it out? Since i'm an Rx7 owner i know never to go to a dealer for anything other the oil filter... I don't know if that changed....

Also, I don't know if i got a good deal or not, but this is what i got. 31k miles black on black, no problems with the car what so ever. I paid 15.5 for it. They wanted 19 something so i traded my 800$ bonneville and paid $15.5

I'll post some pics tomorrow if you guys want since i just got home and it's dark here. I'm sorry guys if these are newbie questions, but i'm searching and learning at the same time.

Thanks

you got a great deal boosted, nice car. dealer rule applies but if it's covered under warranty def go get it done for free. warranty is 60k and 5 years. the trunk should thump open when you get the button, can you open it? i can hear mine when i hit the button. Also if you press the lock button and the blinkers do not blink once then that means your trunk is open. as for the manual i'm not sure but i know someone will answer your question.

def post pics of the 8 and the 7, and welcome.

Welcome Boostin, nice to have ya here. Two rotories at home, lucky man.

As for the newby questions, some people might give you a hard time. No biggy, just try to search before you ask a question. Most likely it's already been asked, same as on the 7club I'm sure.

The trunk release ... on your key fob or on the car itself? You have shut it fully before trying to open it right? Sometimes the key fob button will open it and you don't know it to look at it. Shut her tight and then try again.

Price sounds okay, what area of this world are ya?

I'm talking about the trunk release button inside the car. I don't have a key fob and i don't know if i can just get one from a dealer that will work remotely...

When i press it, i don't hear a click or anything, i can open it fine with the key though...

Looks like this thing has that factory built in alarm like rx7's where it operates when you lock the car with the key....

Thanks for the replies guys, i can post pics of the FD for now, but Rx8 i'll post tomorrow morning....

In your glovebox compartment there is a switch that disables the trunk button from working. Try switching this button. As for the manual go to mazda.com and register your car and you will be able to view your car's manual.

Just for reference...if you have cloth but have a sunroof, then you have a touring model.

31k miles i'd check your tires and brakes out, plus swap the trans and rear diff fluids, who knows how long they've been sitting there.

that's on my list of to-do's. I got to change all the fluids, flush the radiator etc... When you own an FD you have to do that thing often

Also, it does have bose sound system.... So it's a touring then. I have 2 touring models now FD and FE.

The touring gets the upgraded bose system, and the sunroof.

Then the GT gets leather, heated power seats, and side view mirror defrost.

Sweet looking FD - I love the lines of that car. Glad you purchased an RX-8 - daily driver? I have 52K on my '04 GT Model, and ZERO problems to date.

I'm waiting for the superchargers to all get their bugs out - then I'll be boostin like you one day... Oh the wait, the wait.
