Joining the New Engine club

Hay guise, haven't posted in a while.

Just adding to the list of owners having to get their engine replaced.

It's a 2004 with 63k miles on it. I was just driving along when the engine started chugging, flashing CEL, and stalled while I was going down a street at 40mph. I'm guessing it was a really bad misfire.

The dealership said bad coils and plugs, so all is good. And then they call back and say somehow the coils damaged one of the rotors enough for me to need a new engine. So I'm car-less for potentially two weeks.

I guess a new engine will make it worthwhile.

with all the issues you have had with your 8 in the past, this might end up being a very good thing. maybe now you'll start getting 30 miles per gallon or at least more than 10

Are they paying for a rental? I have almost 90k and I hope I get a third engine so my car will last a few more years for my son to drive.

I would think that they should provide you a loaner or rental. You should ask very firmly.

Did you rev frequently, change oil frequently, the whole shebang?

Sorry to hear though.

Yes. I forgot to mention that...I had routine maintenance done every 5k miles.

Redlined almost every day.

Asked for a rental, but since it's not the original warranty, they're not going to be nice enough.

It's gonna be a carpooling frenzy until I get a new one

I'm getting my 2nd new one as we speak, and no loaner either.

That sucks canary. What happened to the previous engines?

Tiger: my dealership usually takes care of things sooner than they actually say. They said 5-10 days for the engine to come in and then a couple days to put it in. Any later and I'll go apeshit.

Rentals aren't covered under the extended powertrain warranty...but I'll see what MNAO has to say.

^Wow they must not of had that many go down all at the same time. In Vegas back when I had my AT it was like on kid got sick they all got sick. They had my old AT for a 2 weeks man. I had to pay for the rental. It was like over $500.00 bucks. The dealer only covered the first day man. RIP WB AT 04 8
